In jüngster Zeit ist in dieser Gegend der Tempel Jebiwon errichtet worden, weswegen die Statue auch „Jebiwon Steinstatue“ genannt wird. Der Buddha wurde mit einer besonderen Methode geschaffen: Auf einem nach Westen gerichteten, hohen Felsen wurde zunächst der Körper geschnitzt und danach der getrennt geschaffene Kopf darauf angebracht. Abgesehen davon, dass der Hinterkopf zum Teil Schaden nahm, ist die Statue gut erhalten. Die oben genannte Herstellungsmethode fand in der Goryeo-Zeit (918-1392) breite Verwendung. Aus der starken Kontur des Gesichts und dem detailierten Stil lässt sich schließen, dass die Statue etwa im 11. Jahrhundert geschaffen wurde.
