Jungon Head House

Located in Geochang County in Gyeongsangnam-do Province, the Head House of Mr. Jeong On shows a peculiar style of ancient Korean architecture. Since the house is located in a basin surrounded by high mountains, it was built in overlapping style as the typical architectural style in the northern region in order to endure the cold. In addition, the "eyebrow" roof was added as protection from the frequent rain. The house is mainly visited by families on weekends and research organizations on weekdays. Visitors can enjoy various healing and cultural activities in the trekking course of Mt. Geumwonsan and the Suseungdae Amusement Park, which are 1km away. The Anchae is used by the owner family, and the Sarangchae, Jungmunchae, and Daemunchae are used as guest rooms. Groups can rent the entire Sarangchae building.

Wonhakgoga is a large and imposing hanok in the center of Hwangsan Village, Geochang, Gyeongsangnam-do - not far from the famous Suseungdae Rock - and was head house of the Geochang Shin Clan for around 500 years. The house’s fine gabled roofs, large pillars and foundation stones, and decoration of the kind usually found in palaces and temples mark it out as home to a prestigious family. The Jeong Clan Old House in Umyeong-ri, Hamyang-gun - also known as Hyori’s Old House - was home to a number of Joseon scholars, and has been designated a Gyeongsangnam-do cultural treasure. Visitors will notice that the anchae women’s house is separated by a low wall from the other buildings, to keep the women’s area private. There is a vegetable garden, and slightly aside from the residences is an outbuilding where learned Joseon gentlemen - ‘seonbi’ - would gather to study and discuss. The old house was opened to guests in 2013 so visitors can come and feel the history of the place for themselves.

Choi Pilgan Old House in Hakdong Village, Goseong, is a Gyeongsangnam-do cultural asset and has been in the Jeonju Choi family for 11 generations - that’s 200 years! The house has a high stone wall, and beyond the gate house stand an anchae, a sarangchae and two other buildings, with the men's and women's spaces separated by an inner gate as per tradition. A leisurely walk round the house’s time-drenched perimeter wall is highly recommended.

The Chi-ong Art Museum is a cultural space spreading up the slope of Cheongnyeongsan Mountain in Gapyeong, Gyeonggi-do. The site incorporates an art gallery, meeting rooms, a Korean restaurant and hanok lodgings. Inside the lofty gate is a spacious yard, pavilion and pond, and a wooden veranda and tea room at the top. Many types of accomodation are offered including guestrooms, standalone houses, duplex rooms, and one room equipped with a bed and facilities for disabled visitors. There is even a small lecture hall for the use of overnight guests. Gyeongpo Lake and Gangneung Olympic Park (where PyeongChang Winter Olympics were held) are also nearby.
