Hallasan Mountain (한라산)

Hallasan Mountain stands proudly at the center of Jeju Island and is perhaps the island’s most memorable landmark. Also called Yeongjusan Mountain, meaning "mountain high enough to pull the galaxy," Hallasan Mountain is widely known by scientists for its geological value. Designated as a national park in 1970, there are 368 parasitic cones called "oreum" (Jeju dialect meaning peak) around the main mountain.

Hallasan Mountain is famous for its vertical ecosystem of plants that results from the varying temperatures along the mountainside. Over 1,800 kinds of plants and 4,000 species of animals (3,300 species of insects) have been identified; to explore the mountain's treasures, simply follow one of the well-developed hiking trails.

Chunshim, located next to Changcheon Elementary School in Jeju, is a specialized restaurant known for its cutlassfish dishes. The signature dish is the tong galchi gui (grilled whole cutlassfish), where a whole cutlassfish is grilled and served. Additionally, they offer dishes like eungalchi jorim (braised cutlassfish) and a limited quantity of large-sized wang galchi gui (grilled jumbo cutlassfish). The first floor features a spacious dining area with an elegant atmosphere, while the second floor serves as a waiting area and sells Jeju specialties, including beverages like coffee.

Citrus Museum is a themed museum dedicated to tangerines, a specialty of Jeju Island. It showcases the history of tangerines, their varieties, cultivation methods, and tangerine cultivation worldwide. Visitors can also purchase tangerine-related products at the Citrus Experience Center and Museum Shop. From November to February of the following year, visitors can experience tangerine harvesting. The café on the second floor offers various beverages made from tangerines.

Yeongsil Trail is renowned as the shortest yet the best trail for its beautiful scenery among those of Hallasan Mountain. It is 5.8 kilometers and takes approximately 2 hour and 30 minutes to get to the destination. Starting from Yeongsil Rest Area, an uphill path emerges along steep mountain ridges to reach the Nambyeok Watershed. With its steep and flat parts, the hike is easy enough for children. It's a wonderful way to appreciate the lush forest and beautiful scenery.

Soesokkak Estuary is a valley formed where fresh water meets seawater, creating deep pools. The harmony of deep blue water, volcanic rock formations, and dense pine forests creates a mystical atmosphere. Visitors can explore deep into Soesokkak Estuary by riding a tewoo or kayak. Following the walking trail leads to Hahyo Soesokkakhaebyeon Beach, famous for its black sand.
