Gangjin has many scenic landscapes with Wolchulsan Mountain to the north and the sea of Gugangpo dotted with numerous islets and wetlands to the south. It is also home to beautiful mountains, rivers, and plains that add to its scenic beauty and natural features. The Baengnyeonsa Temple and Dasan Chodang to the west of Gangjinman Bay, and the reeds along the coastline are a beautiful sight to behold. Wolchulsan Spa is located five kilometers northwest of the town of Yeongam. The spa overlooks the beautiful scenery of Wolchulsan Mountain, the extensive plain of Yeongam, and Yeongamcheon Stream, a tributary of Yeongsangang River.
The source of Wolchulsan Spa’s hot spring waters is red feldspar granite (elvan) that
forms the aquifer column of Wolchulsan Mountain. The adhesive and purifying properties of the elvan removes harmful organic matter and pollutants, resulting in pure, natural hot spring waters. Rich in various minerals, dissolved oxygen, and far-infrared emissivity, the elvan hot spring waters are known to be effective for alleviating various ailments such as fatigue, neuralgia, rheumarthritis, skin trouble, and athlete’s foot.
Various tourist attractions are located nearby, including the Wolchulsan Mountain, the

Geomokjang Minbak (‘B&B’) stands at the foot of Mount Doryunsan, Hanam-gun, Jeollanam-do, and is part of Museon Hanok Minbak Village. The hanok’s pillars and rafters are built of old pinewood, and the wooden floors, windows and doors are lined with Korean paper. All 7 rooms have modern bathrooms. In the large tree-shaded yard you can experience bonsai making for a small fee, while beyond the low stone wall are fields and trees. Geomokjang is a good base for exploring Haenam and is on the way to Daeheungsa, a temple with a thousand years of history.

The Tracksite of Dinosaurs, Pterosaurs, and Birds in Uhang-ri is where the world's most intricate fossil footprints of dinosaurs and birds were discovered. The track site was designated as a Natural Monument for its significance and serves as an educational site for studying earth science and dinosaurs from the Cretaceous period. There is a museum that has on display 447 materials related to fossils, including actual fossil pieces of an Allosaurus, along with exhibitions dedicated to giant dinosaurs, sea reptile, and birds.

Jeolla Byeongyeongseong is a fortress located in Seongdong-ri, Byeongyeong-myeon, Gangjin-gun, Jeollanam-do. It played an important role as the main headquarter of the entire southwest region of the military in the Joseon era during the Japanese Invasion of Korea and Jeongyujaeran (the 2nd Japanese Invasion).
Built in 1414 during the time of King Taejong (17th year of his rule), the fortress spans over a 1,060m in length and has kept its original bottom base intact. Three Sugumun main gates, seven Ongseong, building sites, foundation stones, and 25 tombstones also remain. In addition, it is the best preserved fortress among the remaining fortresses in the Namhae area. Hamel, a Dutch sailor, drifted in the site from 1656 during the 7th year of King Hyojeong to 1663 during the 4th year of King Hyeonjeong in the Joseon dynasty and wrote a novel named ‘The Journal of Hendrick Hamel’ after visiting the area. His novel explained Korean policy, culture, and traditions of the time to the Western world.

Duryunsan Mountain (700 meters) is a famous mountain in Jeollanam-do. With its eight peaks, it is home to many temples and historic sites. The mountain also holds great importance in plant chorology as its forests consist of warm-temperate broad-leaved evergreens and deciduous broad-leaved trees. The mountain peak can be reached by trekking for about 2-3 hours from the entrance of Daeheungsa Temple or by the Daeryunsan Cable Car (one way 8-minute), which departs from the entrance on the opposite side of the mountain and takes visitors to a spot right below the peak. From the mountain summit, there is a view of the southern sea and on a clear day, it is possible to see as far as Hallasan Mountain on Jeju Island. Jeonju Sikdang is a noted restaurant for Haenam folk cuisine. It was designated by the Korean Traditional Culture Preservation Society after
getting many awards, such as Special Culinary Award.
The main items on the menu are pyogo jeongol (shitake mushroom hot pot) and sanchae jeongsik (set menu with seasoned wild vegetables). In particular, the restaurant's signature pyogo jeongol uses ingredients that are all prepared in house using organic shitake mushrooms, beef, Manila clams, along with other seafood and vegetables, giving it a clean and rich taste. The theme of the restaurant, “Enjoying natural dishes in the mountains,” fits perfectly with the taste of their mushrooms, which carries a excellent taste without the addition of any artificial seasoning.
