Gosapo Beach commands a magnificent scenic view, thanks to the 2-kilometer stretch of fine sand and pine forest along the beach. The beach is considered one of the cleanest among the beaches in the area. Every two weeks, the tides fall to reveal a path from Gosapo Beach to Haseom Island.

The Byeonsan Seashore Path is a scenic 66-kilometer coastal walk stretching from the Saemangeum Seawall to the Julpo Bay Tidal Flat Ecological Park. One of its highlights is Course 3 (Jeokbyeokgang Noeulgil), which offers breathtaking views of rock formations of the Cretaceous period in the Mesozoic Era along the Jeokbyeokgang Cliffs and Chaeseokgang Cliff. Gyeokpo Port provides fresh seafood and passenger ferry service to and from Wido Port. This course spans from Seongcheon Port to Gyeokpo Port, and when the tide is low, you can walk along the exposed shore, marveling at the unique rock formations and wildflowers along the way.

Saemangeum (새만금)

Saemangeum is an area created by the reclamation project to build a sea wall connecting Gunsan and Buan. After 20 years of construction, the Saemangeum Seawall was completed in 2010. Stunning sunsets can be seen from the dike, and various facilities such as campgrounds and the Saemangeum Project Office are well prepared for visitors experience. It is also known as a filming location for BTS's music videos.

Enjoy the panoramic view of Saemangeum
This is a PR center to commemorate the Saemangeum Project, which took 19 years to complete. It is a place that encompasses the past, present, and vision of Saemangeum. The inside is much larger and larger than it looks from the outside, and there are so many things to see. When you go up to the observatory on the 3rd floor, the magnificent panoramic view of Saemangeum spreads out in front of you, and you can observe distances beyond your reach with a telescope. Outside the Promotion Hall, there is a monument where BTS' music video is played. There is an endless stream of visitors sitting here and taking commemorative photos.

Haseom Observatory (하섬전망대)

Haseom Observatory offers a bird’s-eye view of Haseom Island, which gets its name due to its resemblance to a lotus flower. The observatory is well-known for offering the views of sea parting, Korea’s Miracle of Moses, which occurs on the 1^st and 15^th of every month in the Lunar Calendar when the sea tides recede, revealing a 2-kilometers-long shoreline. It is famous for its abundance of clams, hence sometimes called “half clams-half mud.” The elevated location of the observatory allows visitors to enjoy the views of the wide sky and beautiful sunsets.

Buan Guam-ri Dolmens, designated as Historical Site No. 103, is comprised of southern-style dolmens. Dolmen refers to a particular structure of a tomb created during the Bronze Age. Dolmen is largely classified into two groups – Southern-type that has small footstones supporting large top stone; and Northern-type which is shaped like a desk. In Guam-ri, there were originally 13 dolmens, but only 10 remain. Most of the dolmens have 8 small footstones propping up one large top stone, compared to the dolmens in other regions which normally have 4 footstones.

Duamchodang Hermitage (두암초당)

Duamchodang Hermitage is a small hanok building located right next to the cliff face of Byeongbawi Rock. The location and age of this building give off a unique atmosphere, being quite old and in a hard-to-reach place. While there is a hiking trail to the hermitage, there is no parking near the trailhead, making it a bit difficult to reach.

Gunsan Sikdang is a renowned Korean restaurant famous for its clam porridge and clams set menu. Located near Gyeokpo Port and Chaeseokgang Cliff, this area is known for abundant clams. The signature menu is the baekhap jeongsik (clams set menu), featuring dishes such as clam porridge, steamed clams, clam soup, and various seafood dishes. Baekhap juk (clam porridge), boiled with mung beans, is also a specialty known for its rich flavor.

The café is located on the second floor, so it is a great place to enjoy the view of Gyeokpohaebyeon Beach and the mountains beyond on clear days. The interior tends toward modern and minimalist sensibilities, allowing visitors to focus on the view, while the studio space allows visitors to take pictures with the items on display. The most notable feature of this café is its selection of beverages and dessert menu. Menus such as the Bear-gatto (Bear + Affogato), espresso topped with an ice cream in the shape of a bear; Cotton Candy Latte, raspberry latte topped with cotton candy and marshmallows; Sleeping Teddy Cake, a cake in the shape of a sleeping bear; and the rich fragrance of MaILa (Matcha + Ice Cream + Latte) bring a smile to one’s face with cute and unique concepts. All the menus in the café command a strong following, so many visitors post pictures of the café as proof of their visit on Instagram.

Located across from Gyeokpohaebyeon Beach, this gimbap store also offers coffee and bottled beverages. Its signature menu is gimbap, particularly kkosiraegi (sea string) gimbap. One can also enjoy squid and shrimp gimbap, all perfect menus for seafood lovers. The gimbap here is recommended because these are healthy dishes made with Buan’s specialty. The store also offers beverages and desserts with coffee, so it is a perfect place to drop by and get some food and drinks for a picnic at Gyeokpohaebyeon Beach.
