Yeouido Saetgang Ecological Park in central Seoul was the first ecological park in Korea, opened on September 25, 1997. It houses a wide variety of flora and fauna, including kestrels (Natural Monument No. 323), herons, and minnows. There is a 6 kilometer-long promenade that crosses the park, and information signs explaining various flower and plant species throughout the park.

Mokdong Stadium was opened in 1989 with a stadium, a baseball field and an indoor ice rink and added footsal field in 2008 to improve Korea’s sports culture. The soccer field was used as the home field for K-league teams in the past. The ice rink hosts hockey matches and figure skating competitions as well as ice ballet performances. Other facilities include a main square, an indoor shooting range and a gym for residents to enjoy.

The Seoul Botanical Garden was created in Magok, the last remaining development site in Seoul, to introduce native plants and horticulture of 12 different cities from around the world and raise ecological awareness in the city. It serves as a bridgehead and lifelong education institution with the aim of spreading urban garden culture while staying true to its original role as a plant research conservation institution through expanding endangered wild plant habitats, researching the proliferation of species, and developing varieties. The botanical garden is divided into four spaces: Open Forest, Themed Garden, Lake Garden, and Wetland Garden. The main highlight is the Themed Garden that comprises the Botanic Center, Mogok Cultural Hall, and an outdoor themed garden.

Bonghwasan Mountain (alt. 160 meters) in Jungnang-gu, Seoul offers scenic views of Buramsan, Dobongsan, and Namsan mountains. From the mountain, hikers can even see as far as the Yangju area of Gyeonggi-do Province to the north. Officially designated a “neighborhood park” in July 1977, Bonghwasan Mountain has a variety of convenience facilities, not least of which is the beacon tower of Achasan Bongsudae (remolded in 1994) perched on the mountain summit. Also near the summit is Sansingak Shrine, which is the site of the annual Bonghwasan Dodanggut (Intangible Cultural Property of Seoul), a shamanistic rite performed on the third day of the third lunar month.

Buramsan Butterfly Garden is located within Buramsan Healing Town in Nowon. It is an exhibition garden where one can observe live butterflies all year round. The main building's first floor comprises an incubation center, a breeding center, and a butterfly greenhouse while the second floor is used as an insect education center. At the insect education center, visiors can observe materials related to and specimens of endangered insect species. Groups require a reservation in advance.
