Dooly Museum (둘리뮤지엄)

Dooly Museum is Korea's first museum to be dedicated to a single character. The museum is dedicated to Dooly, the main character from the Korean cartoon series "Dooly the Little Dinosaur." The cartoon was published as a series on a comic magazine called "Bomulseom" from 1983 to 1993, following Dooly's adventure that begins from his arrival to Ssangmun-dong inside a glacier from the Ice Age. Inspired by the series, this interactive museum was founded in Ssangmun-dong and explores the value and meaning of the hit series through the expansion of its works such as the animation series, character merch, and other media sources.

Designated as a Historic Site, Taereung & Gangneung Royal Tombs is comprised of two tombs. Taereung Royal Tomb houses the burial mound of Queen Munjeong who was the second queen of King Jungjong, the 11th King of the Joseon dynasty, and Gangneung Royal Tomb houses the burial mounds of King Myeongjong, the 13th King of Joseon dynasty, and Queen Insun. King Myeongjong ascended the throne after his elder brother, King Injong, when he was twelve years old at Geunjeongjeon Hall in Gyeongbokgung Palace in 1545. The king’s mother, Queen Munjeong ruled behind the scenes, acting as guardian for eight years.

Reflected by the outstanding performance of Korean archers at recent Olympic games, Koreans have an esteemed reputation for their skills in archery and craftsmanship. But this undoubted skill has historical precedent, as bows were an important weapon of war throughout Korean history. The Bucheon Bow Museum was established to show visitors the spirit of Korean archery, and demonstrate its ancestral traditions of bowyer craftsmanship. The museum houses traditional bows (gukgung), which are considered prized cultural pieces, and have been made by a Bucheon family, which has fostered a lineage of bowyers across five generations. In addition, the museum exhibits various pieces and articles related to archery.

Seonungak is a hanok cafe facing Doseonsa Temple at the foot of Bukhansan Mountain, the perfect location to take in the beauty of the changing seasons. Its name, meaning triangular mountain, is derived from the presence of three high peaks: Baegundae Peak, Insubong Peak, and Mangyeongdae Overlook. The highest peak, Baegundae Peak, offers a panoramic view of Seoul from its summit, featuring a spacious rock surface where many visitors can sit. Janggyeongsa Temple is located in Namhansanseong Fortress. Namhansanseong Fortress, which protected Seoul along with Bukhansanseong Fortress, was built at the same time as Janggyeongsa Temple in 1638, during the 16th year of King Injo. Warrior monks from all eight provinces throughout the country helped with the construction. Janggyeongsa Temple is the only remaining temple among nine such temples where military groups made up of monks stayed for trainings.
