Sejong University Museum exhibits folk art, wooden crafts, clothing, accessories, pottery, paintings and calligraphy collected for over 40 years by the couple who founded the present day Sejong University, Dr. Ju Young-ha and Dr. Choi Ok-ja. This museum has its origins in the Soodo Gallery, which was built in Chungmuro, the campus’ original location, in 1959. Needing more space to house additional artifacts, the museum moved to its current location, which first opened on May 5, 1973 in a four-story concrete building inspired by traditonal tower design from the Baekje era. This building was later expanded on May 20, 1977.

After the university’s name was changed to Sejong University in 1979, the museum was also renamed the Sejong University Museum. The museum showcases unique artifacts to both scholars and students from home and abroad in contribution to the research of Korea’s culture, arts, and archeology.

National Gugak Museum (국립국악박물관)

The National Gugak Museum opened on February 23, 1995 as the first gugak museum in Korea, featuring approximately 6,000 pieces of gugak-related materials and relics which have both historical and cultural value. It is comprised of seven themed permanent exhibition halls that present 250 pieces of audio and video clips regarding gugak. In the 3D room, visitors can enjoy 3D animation at all times. The museum also hosts special exhibitions in unique and interesting themes.

The National Gugak Center is the governing body established to preserve and promote traditional Korean performing arts. The center can accommodate every type of traditional performing arts, such as palace music, court music, and all other genres including major productions of changgeuk (Korean musical drama). Originally opened in Busan in 1951, the center moved to its current location in Seoul in 1987. Cheongun Literature Library is located at the foot of Inwangsan Mountain and can be reached by following the mountain's walking trail starting from Changuimun Gate along the fortress wall. This public hanok library is designed in consideration of the sloped topography and the natural scenery of Inwangsan Mountain. The library consists of two floors: an underground floor and a ground floor. While the ground floor is designed as a traditional hanok, the underground floor is made of concrete to support the hanok building and the spacious outdoor yard. By implementing the natural slope in the library's design, the underground southern entrance is exposed, allowing sunlight to enter. The underground floor features a wide collection of books while the ground floor serves as a place for reading. The natural environment surrounding the library adds to the hanok building's traditional and peaceful charms.
