A must visit place for tourists in Jeonju, Ilrakdang Sarangchae is located in the middle of the traditional Korean house village of Jeonju. The very first of three enjoyments for noble man, as indicated by Menicus, the existence of parents and brothers with no troubles is what the place is named after. Standing in the garden, you can easily see the stone walls of Gyeonggijeon and also you are within the range of walking distance to Jeondong catholic church, Omokdae, Southern market, Jeonju Hyanggyo, and the wall painting village of Jaman.
The rooms are called, Haengbokchae, Sarangbang, Mitum band, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and so on. Haengbok room 1/2, a living room with furnace, a big sized attic above the living room are shared together, which makes it most suitable for big families or a small group of tourists. Gaeunchae 2 is the sister hanok of Gaeunchae in Jeonju Hanok Village, Jeollabuk-do. It’s a traditional red clay-walled hanok with ondol underfloor heating, exposed roof beams and hanji wallpaper and flooring - creating a beautiful and distinctive hanok interior. It has a small hallway which is good for storing luggage or just to sit and chat. In the garden are sculpted stone lanterns and tigers. Local attractions such as Jeondong Cathedral and Gyeonggijeon Shrine are a short walk away.

Chimyeongjasan Holy Ground (치명자산성지)

Chimyeongjasan is a sacred site for those of the Catholic faith and a famous pilgrimage attraction in the southeastern region of Jeonju. Perched upon a steep ridge of Seungamsan Mountain behind Hanbyeokdang Pavilion, the area is the final resting place of well-known Catholic couple Yu Jung-cheol (John), Yi Sun-I (Rugalda), who vowed to remained virgins for all eternity. Situated upon the couple’s grave is “Miracle Rock,” a naturally formed rock that is said to be shaped like Jesus and the Virgin Mary. The site is also home to a 4-meter-high stone cross that can be seen from as far away as Hanbyeokdang Pavilion.
The 200-meter prayer hike named “The Golgotha Way of the Cross” is one of the most popular pilgrimage routes for Catholics visiting the mountain area. Leading up from the parking lot and Monmartre Square (rest place), the entire path to the summit is strewn with flowers, making the prayer walk an ideal place for a stroll and some quiet meditation.
Saranggadeuk (사랑가득)

Located in Jeonju Hanok Village, Saranggadeuk is a traditional hanok that was renovated from a traditional hanok built in 1900, which retains the elegance of hanok architecture in its toenmaru (narrow wooden porch), rafters, and eaves. The hotel has six guest rooms, including a spacious ondol (underfloor heated) room with an interior finished in cypress wood that emits a subtle scent. Each of the rooms has a bathroom with a shower, and the Cherry and Rose rooms are recommended for couples, while the Azalea rooms are recommended for groups. Breakfast is served with freshly baked toast, seasonal fruits, and coffee in the room, and cooking is not permitted.
Omokdae and Imokdae Historic Sites (오목대와 이목대)

Omokdae Historic Site is located on top of a steep hill and is one of the places where Yi Seong-gye, who later became King Taejo, the first king of the Joseon dynasty, stopped to celebrate his victory on his way home from a war against the Japanese army at Unbong Peak of Hwangsan Mountain. Across the bridge from Omokdae is Imokdae Historic Site, situated at the foot of Seungamsan Mountain. Approximately 80 meters downhill from Imokdae are memorial stones and a building where Mokjo, the great-great-grandfather of King Taejo, once used to live. The engraved letters on the stones are the handwritings of Emperor Gojong. Mokjo moved to Hamgyeongdo as a result of a dispute with the then minister of Jeonju, an incident which King Taejo believed to have laid the foundation for him to shape the Joseon dynasty.

Samrakheon is a traditional lodging in Jeonju Hanok Village, Jeollabuk-do, and sister hanok to Bukyeongdang. Samrakheon is a spacious old house containing duplex rooms equipped with toilets. Jeonjuhyanggyo is a local Confucian school that was established during the Joseon dynasty (1392-1910) and is a designated Historic Treasure. This was a national education center during the Joseon period. The school was originally located at the Gyeonggijeon Shrine site, but was relocated in 1603. The mortuary tablets of seven Chinese Confucian scholars and 18 Korean scholars are enshrined in the main building of Daeseongjeon Hall. The site is popular for its 400-year-old ginkgo tree in the front yard, and is the most beautiful in fall.
