A registered Historic Site, Gyeonggijeon Shrine was founded in 1410 and holds the portrait of King Tae-jo, the founder of the Joseon dynasty. The shrine was originally given the name Eoyongjeon, but was changed to its current name in 1442, the 24th year of King Sejong the Great. The structure was partially destroyed during the Imjin War (1592-1598), and was restored in 1614. Gyeonggijeon Shrine is beloved by the locals and tourists for its elegance and the lush tree groves in the middle of the city.

Hanok Story, on Hyanggyo-gil in Jeonju Hanok Village, Jeollabuk-do, is a hanok guesthouse that harmonizes tradition with convenience. Each room is equipped with a toilet, TV and AC, and one room has cooking facilities. In the yard is a 50-year-old persimmon tree - the house’s tutelary spirit - and a cafeteria built of cypress wood. Veteran Kalguksu, located in Jeonju Hanok Village, has been operating since 1977, attesting to the great taste of their broth, made using sesame, meal, and eggs. The noodles are also cut much thinner than other restaurants, while maintaining their chewy texture. Another popular menu at the restaurant is their kongguksu.

The restaurant was a favorite spot for the cast of the drama “Twenty Five Twenty One.” Lead actress Kim Tae-ri, who played Na Hee-do, even visited for breakfast during her vlog shoots. She drew attention for enthusiastically finishing a bowl of noodles down to the last strand. Nearby is the private rental house “2521,” which was featured as Hee-do’s home in the drama, making it worth visiting after enjoying a meal at the restaurant.

Gyodongsallae Hanok stands close to the Namcheongyo Bridge over the Jeonjucheon Stream in Wansan-gu, Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do. The sarangchae (men’s house), anchae (women’s house) and an outbuilding provide a total of 10 guestrooms - some traditional ondol-heated rooms, some rooms with beds and one attic room. Hagindang - also known as Injae’s Old House - is the oldest house in Jeonju Hanok Village, and a designated Jeollabuk-do cultural treasure. The house was built in the royal architecture style by some of the best late Joseon artisans. The Sarangchae guestroom has two sleeping rooms and a living room, suitable for families; while the Byeoldangchae has three guestrooms, one with a tea room space. Guests can use the free minibar while contemplating the old house’s fine traditional garden.

The Gangam Calligraphy Museum (est. 1995) in Jeonju Hanok Village has on display over 1,000 works from famous artists such as Kim Jeong-hee (1786-1856, calligrapher, painter, & scholar), Lee Sam-man (1770-1847, calligrapher), Kim Hong-do (1745-?, artist), and Jeong Yak-yong (1762-1836, scholar). This museum also houses a seminar room for calligraphy-related events and educational programs.
