Culture Factory was a tobacco manufacturing factory in Cheongju from 1946 to 2004. A culture-centered urban regeneration project in 2021 turned it into a cultural complex equipped with commercial facilities, cultural experience facilities and crafts cluster. Because it was remodeled from an existing structure, columns, walls, overall frame and chimney, the original tobacco manufacturing facility frame can still be seen. As a notable venue in Cheongju, a city of handicraft, the Culture Factory hosts numerous exhibitions related to crafts. The first floor features restaurants and shopping mall, and the third and fourth floors make up the Korean Craft Museum where you can check out free handicraft exhibitions. Cheongju Open Library and a Kids Cafe located on the fifth floor are popular attractions for families. The performing hall frequently stages a variety of plays and concerts to provide Cheongju citizens with more opportunities to enjoy and appreciate culture.

Cheongju Yukgeori Market is a famous traditional market in Cheongju where consumers can purchase agricultural produce directly grown and harvested in the countryside as well as various industrial products. An early morning market (so-called Dokkaebi Market) opens daily, and farmers sell agricultural products they have grown themselves. It first began during the Joseon Dynasty as Cheongju Market on the side of the Musimcheon Stream embankment and has been called Yukgeori Market since 1973. Today, around 4,000 merchants work at some 1,600 stores over a total area of over 1 million square meters. There are also 5-day markets that run on dates ending in 2 and 7. Recently, an arcade and a parking lot have been installed and, as a result, it was chosen as an outstanding traditional market in the country, thus serving as a model for merchants in other regions.

The Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Cheongju presents the country's first-ever open storage-formed museum, based on artworks owned by the museum, the government, and Art Bank. The open storage currently stores collections, which are a basic component of an art museum, and not only offers a great volume of works open to the public but also enables visitors to understand even the hidden functions of an art museum, thus acting as an art museum with an expanded concept.

If you want to enjoy a premium Korean table d’hote experience in Cheongju, Ihak Hanjeongsik is the place to go. One has a choice of floor and table seating here, so visitors can pick the seating that is comfortable to them. Because of its interior design, the restaurant has separate dining rooms, so one can enjoy a meal in peace. The dishes are served in a course, from porridge to seasonal kimchi and salad, seafood, meat, soup, braised dishes (meat or vegetables marinated and braised), and finishing with pot rice. That is the familiar course menu structure found in Korean table d’hote, with kimchi and vegetables served before main dishes made with meat arrive on the table. All dishes tend toward elegance, yet the restaurant does not skimp on the amount of food served, so one can get a filling meal. It is a popular place for locals, especially for family events, so reservations are mandatory.
