Daejeon Municipal Museum, comprised of a permanent exhibition hall, donated relics exhibition hall, planned hall, and city promotion hall, was created as a cultural area for citizens according to the Doan New City Development Project of Daejeon on October 16, 2012.

The permanent exhibition hall presents precious cultural assets in Daejeon with the theme of life and culture of Confucian scholars of Daejeon. The donated relic exhibition hall showcases artifacts donated by residents of Daejeon, and in the planned exhibition hall, a special exhibition is held to offer diverse items to see one or two times a year. In addition, various hands-on programs, lectures, and performances are given in the museum to entertain visitors.

Surakgyegok Valley is a valley located in the northern part of Daedunsan Provincial Park. Enveloped by forests and flowing streams, it offers opportunities for forest bathing, and its moderate temperatures even in the summer make it suitable for leisure activities. Throughout the valley, visitors can find waterfalls such as Surakpokpo Falls and Seonnyeopokpo Falls. A notable feature of this area is the steep iron staircase nestled between cliffs, leading from the valley to the summit of Daedunsan Mountain, which is a highlight of the area.

Hanbat Arboretum, linked with the Government Complex-Daejeon and Science Park, is the largest man-made urban arboretum in Korea. It serves multiple purposes: a reservoir of genetically diverse foliage, an eco-learning center for students, and a recreational area where people can relax and pass the time in the peaceful embrace of nature. The arboretum, standing on a lot measuring 387,000 square meters, is divided into three sections. The West Garden and Nammun Square opened on April 28th, 2005. The East Garden opened on May 9th, 2009, and consists of 19 uniquely themed parks, including the Magnolia Garden, Medicinal Herbs Garden, Rock Garden, and Fruit Garden.

Guibin Dolsotbap is a Korean restaurant located near the Daejeon Arts Center. Their signature dish is dolsotbap (hot stone pot rice), served with a generous spread of around 20 different types of vegetables and side dishes, allowing diners to enjoy a satisfying meal. The Natural Heritage Center was established to help visitors learn about the value and importance of natural heritages through exhibitions and education on the methodical study of natural heritages. Fossils of dinosaur eggs and footprints along with animal and plant specimens and many other natural heritages are on display. With the guide of professional researchers, young visitors can learn more about natural heritages through hands-on activities, video education and many other experiential programs that are only provided at the Natural Heritage Center.

The center is developing more exhibitions through academic exchanges with UNESCO and various international organizations specializing in natural heritages.

Yeongdong Bidangang Forest Village is a pure farming village which was at the historical border between the Silla and Baekje kingdoms. Also located nearby is Yeongguksa Temple, where King Gongmin escaped from the Red Turban troops during the Goryeo period.

Created by the Geumgang River that flows like silk around Bonghwasan Mountain, the village is surrounded by breathtaking scenery, keeping Mother Nature clean so organisms including marsh snails and mandarin fish can live.

In the village, plenty of hands-on activities such as catching snails in the crystalline water like a treasure hunter and riding a tandem bike are available to make a valuable memory. Not only these activities, visitors can also take a rest within the ambience of Bidangang River and pick sweet potatoes and grapes, giving the pleasure of harvesting. Other programs including making a wooden doorplate, wine foot-bathing, flying a pungdeung (lantern), and herb soap-making are offered.

Daejeon Convention Center (DCC) opened on April 21, 2008 in support of the local convention industry, one of Daejeon’s fastest going business during the time. Located on the southeastern slope of Jinaksan Mountain (732 meters), about six kilometers away from Geumsan-eup, Boseoksa Temple was founded by the great Buddhist monk Jogu Daesa in 866 (12th year of King Heongang) during the Silla Kingdom. The temple’s name Boseoksa (boseok meaning jewelry) comes from the statue of Buddha in the temple that was cast from gold found in the mountain facing the temple.

The temple is comprised of Daeungjeon Hall, Euiseongak Shrine and Sansingak Shrine. Close to the temple grounds are 12 stunning waterfalls. Visitors can also see a 1,100 year-old ginkgo tree or take a pleasant stroll along a 300-meter long fir tree road.
