The Yeosu Jinnam Turtle Ship Festival commemorates the achievements of Admiral Yi Sun-sin and his victorious naval battles during the Imjin War. Located on the Yeosubando Peninsula, the city of Yeosu is made up of three historic areas that share the Sino-Korean character “Ryeo” (beautiful: 麗) in their names, namely Yeosu-si, Yeocheon-si, and Yeocheon-gun. The trio was integrated and became one city in April of 1998. Jasan Park is located at the entrance to Odongdo Island’s embankment. It is a place where one can have a view of the city of Yeosu, Odongdo Island, and the sea at Namhae. Climb the steep stairs to the top and find thousands of evergreen trees and plants, planted on a wide plateau. The park also has a 15-meter statue of Admiral Yi Sun-sin, the largest in Korea, unveiled as a part of the great hero’s birthday in 1967 and the first Jinnamje Festival. Inside the park are Jasangak Pavilion and Chunghontap Tower overlooking the sea. Ilchuljeong Pavilion was added in 1998 to serve as a refuge for the citizens of Yeosu.

Yeosu Hanok Experience Center is part of Sanggwan Village, Yeosu City, and can be rented as a single guesthouse. The base point of Hallyeohaesang National Park, Odongdo Island is famous for colonies of camellia found on the island. In addition to the camellias, there are 70 species of wildflowers and 200 species of evergreen trees that flourish here. The island is known to be most beautiful in mid-March when the camellias are at its peak. To get to the island, it takes around 10 minutes by car from Yeosu downtown. Other options include the Dongbaek Train, a ferry or motorboat.

Dolsandaegyo Bridge in Yeosu connects Dolsan Island to the mainland, and is a representative attraction of the city, lit up in many colored lights at night. The island of Dolsan is said to be a fortress in the ocean, and protected the nation from invaders and pirates during the Joseon dynasty. Construction on the bridge began in 1980 and was completed in 1984, with Dolsan Park being founded on the hilltop above the bridge in celebration of the bridge opening.
