The magnificent cliffs and tree-lined seaside views of Amnam Park bring the harmony of the bluish-green waters and the forested landscape together. Originally a protected area, entrance was not permitted until its opening to the public in 1996, when visitors could first experience the untouched landscape. Haeundae Gaya Milmyeon, founded in May 1998, is a famous milmyeon (wheat noodles) restaurant, a local Busan dish that has been loved for a long time. Milmyeon was created during the Korean War. Refugees who missed the taste of Hamheung-style naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles) made noodles using wheat flour instead of buckwheat, which was difficult to find in Busan at the time, and milmyeon became a local food in Busan. Haeundae Gaya Milmyeon boils brisket, shank, native chicken feet, ginger, onion, garlic, and various herbal medicines for 48 hours to create their broth. Then, the broth is aged for more than a year. A bowl of chewy milymeon noodles is served in a refreshing, icy broth topped with pickled radish, cucumber, boiled egg, and meat garnish. In addition to milmyeon, the restaurant also sells bibimmyeon (spicy noodles) and mandu (dumplings) with impressive chewy mandu skin.
