Desde antaño, el Santuario de los Mártires del Monte Jeoldusan ha tenido diferentes nombres como el Yongdubong (cumbre de cabeza de dragón) y Jamdubong (cumbre de cabeza de gusano), pero recibió este último nombre en el año 2000. Fue el lugar de persecución de Byeonin en 1866, donde muchos católicos romanos fueron asesinados brutalmente.
