Festival de los Faroles de Loto (연등회)

Esta celebración tradicional budista tiene unos 1.200 años de historia, desde la época del reino de Silla. En los tiempos de la dinastía Goryeo era conocido como Yeon Deung Hoe, mientras que durante la dinastía Joseon se le llamaba Gwandeungnori. Hasta el día de hoy se mantiene esta tradición que ha sido reconocida como Patrimonio Cultural Intangible de la Humanidad por la Unesco. La ciudad y los templos se iluminan con los faroles de loto y hay vistosos festejos, desfiles y actividades.

Fue inaugurada en abril de 1970, con el nombre “Hyundai Hwarang” en Insa-dong, distrito de Jongno-gu, Seúl. Durante más de 40 años ha presentado exposiciones de los artistas más célebres en la historia de Corea: Park Su-geun, Lee Jung-seob, Kim Hwan-gi, Chang Ucchin, Chun Kyung-ja, Lee Dae-won, Yu Yeong-guk, Lee U-fan, Paik Nam-june, Shim Moon-seup, etc.

Consta de dos edificios, el principal y otro anexo, y también dispone de una sede en Gangnam. La galería de Gangnam abarca una dimensión más amplia de artistas sin restricción de género ni estilo, de tal manera que presenta exposiciones de alta calidad, posibilitando el conocimiento del mercado artístico tanto nacional como extranjero. Esta institución artística también se encarga de presentar y promocionar a artistas jóvenes.

Imun Seolnongtang (이문설농탕)

Imun Seolnongtang has been serving its hearty seolleongtang for over a hundred years since it first opened in 1907. Even its name has a long history: the word imun comes from Imun-gol, the now-obsolete name of the restaurant’s location, and seolnongtang, an old variation of the word seolleongtang. During the Japanese colonial rule, the restaurant’s regular customers included Gijeong Son, the marathon gold-medalist at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. To make the rich seolleongtang broth, beef meat and bones are simmered for more than 15 hours. Try putting rice and minced green onion in your seolleongtang for a warm and tasty experience. Kkakttugi (diced radish kimchi), provided as a side dish, is also delicious.

Calle Frontal de Cheong Wa Dae (청와대 앞길)

La calle frontal de Cheong Wa Dae (también conocida como Casa Azul) está abierta al público e incluye el Hyoja Samgeori (intersección de tres calles) en Hyoja-dong y el Palpan Samgeori (intersección de tres calles) en Palpan-dong. Cuando se camina por la calle Hyoja-ro, desde la Estación de Gyeongbokgung del metro, se pueden ver una fuente, el jardín Mugunghwa, y los pabellones Daegogak y Yongbingwan. Biblioteca Literaria Cheongun (청운문학도서관)

La Biblioteca Literaria Cheongun se encuentra al pie del monte Inwangsan y se puede llegar a ella siguiendo el sendero de montaña que comienza en la puerta Changuimun y que va junto a la Muralla de Seúl. Esta biblioteca pública de estilo hanok está diseñada teniendo en cuenta la topografía en pendiente y el paisaje natural del monte Inwangsan. La biblioteca consta de dos plantas: una planta subterránea y una planta baja. Mientras que la planta baja está diseñada como un hanok tradicional, el subsuelo está hecho de concreto para soportar el edificio hanok y el espacioso patio al aire libre. Al implementar la pendiente natural en el diseño de la biblioteca, la entrada sur subterránea queda expuesta, lo que permite que se filtre luz solar. El subsuelo cuenta con una amplia colección de libros, mientras que la planta baja sirve como lugar de lectura. El entorno natural que rodea la biblioteca se suma al encanto tradicional y pacifico del edificio hanok.

Museo de Arte Kumho (금호미술관)

Balwoo Gongyang, located in front of the main gate of Jogyesa Temple, is a temple food restaurant operated by the Cultural Corps of Korean Buddhism. It was selected as a 1-star restaurant by the Michelin Guide for three consecutive years from 2017 to 2019 and it is so popular that reservations must be made a month in advance. “Balwoo” refers to meals for monks and it means that the act of eating is also a process to realizing the truth. The restaurant offers five types of course menus inspired by Buddhist teachings that are served in the order of Suljuksim, Juksang, Sangmi (嘗味), Dammi (噉味), Seungso (僧笑), Youmi (愈味), and Ipgasim. The menu is made with seasonal ingredients to bring out the best flavor of each season. The course meal starts with appetizing kimchi stew according to the traditional Korean meal culture. Then it is followed by porridge, seasonal salad, rice and stew, side dishes, tea, and dessert, satisfying both the taste buds and health. Those who wish to experience an authentic temple meal are recommended to try the Beop Course.
