La aldea Abai
o Cheongho-dong se ubica en Seokcho, Gangwon-do. La palabra ‘Abai’ proviene del dialecto de la provincia Hamgyeong-do (en
Corea del Norte) que significa ‘anciano’. Mucha gente de edad avanzada huyó de Corea del Norte a Cheongho-dong durante la Guerra de Corea
(1950-1953); y la cantidad de residentes ancianos originó el nombre actual del
lugar.
Las calles de Cheongho-dong están alineadas de pequeñas casas que hacen recordar las calles de Seúl en los años ’70. La naturaleza simple de esta aldea y la tranquilidad del mar son las características únicas que describen Cheongho-dong. Esta área se volvió sumamente popular después de que se transmitió la novela coreana ‘Gaeul Donghwa’ (Otoño en mi corazón) ya que fue el lugar de filmación. En la novela, la madre de la protagonista tenía un almacén en Cheongho-dong. Cerca del almacén, muchas veces la protagonista se subía a un bote que ahora es una atracción turística muy popular. Con una capacidad de hasta 35 personas a bordo, el bote ‘Gaetbae’ funciona manualmente con sogas y puede transportar
