Le site des Tombes Donggureung, signifiant « les neuf tombes de l’est », est le mausolée des rois du début de la Dynastie Joseon. Il s’y trouve neuf tombeaux royaux et dix-sept caveaux, dont le tombeau de Taejo Yi Seonggye, le roi fondateur de la dynastie de Joseon (règne de 1335 à 1408). Ce site historique très important par les 600 ans d’histoire qu’il abrite, offre également un magnifique paysage aux alentours très boisés.

La promenade sur les verts sentiers qui longent les tombeaux est particulièrement agréable et vous y verrez sûrement quelque Miscanthus Purpurascens, sorte de fougère violette qui fut importée de Hamheung, le pays natal du roi Taejo Yi Seonggye et qui contribue à la renommée du site.

Ononsa (온온사)

Ononsa, qui a été l'auberge de Gwacheon (Gaeksa), a été construite dans la 27e année du règne du roi Injo de Joseon (1949), mais a obtenu le nom « Ononsa » par le roi Jeongjo. En effet, le 11 février 1790, Jeongjo a visité le tombeau de son père, prince Sado et il a passé la nuit à l'auberge de Gwacheon. Il dit : « Le paysage est beau et il est agréable d'y séjourner », le roi a ainsi conféré les panonceaux manuscrits en prénommant Gaeksa Seoheon « Ononsa » et Gaeksa Dongheon « Burimheon », l'ancien nom de Gwacheon.

Désigné comme patrimoine culturel matériel de la région de Gyeonggi-do le 2 juin 1980, Ononsa a été restauré le 2 décembre 1986.

Seosamneung (서삼릉) est le nom des trois tombeaux royaux de Huireung, Hyoreung et Yereung. Cet endroit est situé à Deokyang-gu à Goyang, dans la province de Gyeonggi-do.

Huireung (희릉) est le tombeau de la Reine Janggyeong, la seconde épouse du Roi Jungjong, le 11ème dirigeant. Il est simple, seulement entouré par « Nanganseok », une balustrade en pierre mais les fleurs de lotus gravées dessus le rendent très agréable.

Hyoreung (효릉) est le nom du tombeau du Roi Injong, le 12ème dirigeant de la Dynastie Joseon, et son épouse la Reine inseong. Les deux tombes sont reliées par une rambarde. Les monticules sont eux entourés par « Byeongpungseok », une bordure rectangulaire large en pierre protégeant les tombes. Des nuages ainsi que les douze animaux de l’astrologie chinoise sont gravées sur les pierres tombales.

Yereung (예릉) est le nom du tombeau du Roi Cheoljong, le 25ème dirigeant de Joseon, et de la Reine Cheorin. Les deux tombes sont reliées par une rambarde.
