Tteokgalbi Street in Gwangju Songjeong-dong is lined with around 20 restaurants specalizing in tteokgalbi (grilled galbi patties). The area is a popular place to eat for locals and tourists alike, with many people visiting both during the week and the weekend. The tteokgalbi here stands out from tteokgalbi found in other regions in a few ways. Most places use 100% beef in the patties, but Songjeong-dong tteokgalbi uses a mix of beef and pork. This change was made in the 90s in order to keep the prices the same during a tough financial season. The restaurants here also serve a bone broth soup with the meal, made from boiling pork bones with kelp and radish for over a long period of time.

The bonchae has two bedrooms with a hidden attic space. The sarangchae has a living room with bedrooms on either side; while the byeolchae, atop a low hilll, has a single cozy room. A walk along a forest road takes you to a pavilion by a pond. Next to the bonchae is a quiet and tranquil reading room.

Jeonpyeongje Reservoir (전평제)

Jeonpyeongje Reservoir was built in 1943 to supply water for agricultural purposes to farms in the Maewol-dong and Byeokjin-dong regions as well as to prevent both floods and droughts. Starting in 1999, the reservoir was changed to a rest area, with a wooden deck crossing the reservoir to the man-made island in the middle. The area now serves as a waterside relaxation and eco-exploration space for family visitors.
