Anyang Public Art Project (APAP) is Korea's only public art festival that takes place once every three years. APAP takes inspiration from Anyang's geography, culture, and history to create, build, exhibit, and perform a wide range of art such as paintings, sculptures, architecture, media work, and more, turning the city into a giant gallery open to the public. 2023 marks the 7th APAP festival, and the event will be organized around the theme of Zone 7, an imaginary space for a closer look into the world of imagination and public art.

The Uijeongbu Arts Center is a multipurpose cultural space that maintains a large theater, a small theater, an international conference hall, and an exhibition hall. The large theater is a spacious performance hall that can support 300 on-stage performers and accommodate an audience of 1,057 persons. The theater has a multifunctional, three-dimensional, moving stage and state-of-the-art stage-lighting and sound facilities, making it a suitable venue for all genres, including orchestras, plays, dance performances, operas, and musicals. Despite its size, the small theater’s lighting and sound facilities match those of the large theater, and the facility can easily support a wide array of lively performances, including plays, chamber music, recitals, choral concerts, and other types of concerts, as well as experimental works. Songam Space Center, set against the gorgeous backdrop of nearby Jangheung Park, Yangju-si, Gyeonggi-do, is one of the largest space themed parks in Korea. Situated on Gyeomyeongsan Mountain at around 440 meters above the sea level, the observatory (B1-3F) features a main telescope that was locally developed and allows visitors to see the stars even during the day. The observatory is part of Stars Valley, which consists of three different buildings: the Space Center, Star House, and Songam Observatory.

Newton Center, a main observatory center of Songsam Observatory has a 600 milimeter Ritchey-Chretien reflecting telescope allowing for clear and convenient observation of the stars. Galilei Center, a sub-observatory facility has seven telescopes including reflecting, catadioptric and refracting telescopes, as well as a CCD camera, digital camera, intermediate telescope and other observation aid devices. Facilities at the observatory include the Challenger Learning Center, a Digital Planetarium, and Star House, a four-story accommodation/training facility. There are also two cable cars, each of which can hold as many as 33 people.

Reflected by the outstanding performance of Korean archers at recent Olympic games, Koreans have an esteemed reputation for their skills in archery and craftsmanship. But this undoubted skill has historical precedent, as bows were an important weapon of war throughout Korean history. The Bucheon Bow Museum was established to show visitors the spirit of Korean archery, and demonstrate its ancestral traditions of bowyer craftsmanship. The museum houses traditional bows (gukgung), which are considered prized cultural pieces, and have been made by a Bucheon family, which has fostered a lineage of bowyers across five generations. In addition, the museum exhibits various pieces and articles related to archery.

Damdaheon is an experience center dedicated to the art of making rice cakes, situated in Geomundol (black stone) Village in Sangok-dong, Uijeongbu. It was opened on October 23, 2009, under Park Gyeong-ae, recognized as a master artisan by Gyeonggi-do. The center offers experience programs like rice cake-making, sweet red bean jelly-making, fermented soybean and sauce-making, kimchi-making, and bean curd-making, as well as weekend farms (offered on a yearly basis). It strives to promote the traditional healthy foods of Korea through hands-on experiences to children and young people, who tend to gravitate toward instant and Western food, and to encourage them to make their own rice cakes at home with Damdaheon’s easy rice cake recipes.
