The Songcheon-ri, Unsu-ri, Ipseok-ri, Susan-ri, and Bigeum-ri areas in Sudong-myeon, Namyangju City boast picturesque scenery with refreshing water flowing everywhere, for which the region is also widely known as “Mulgolan,” which means “inside water valley.” Opened in 1983, the park is surrounded by the mountains of Jugeumsan, Seorisan, and Chungnyeongsan. Genghis Khan Yetgohyang is a restaurant that serves Mongolian-style lamb dishes along with Korean dishes. Jomurakgyegok Valley's river flows between Seongnyongsan Mountain, Jeongmok-ri, Buk-myeon and Jungbong Peak of Hwaaksan Mountain in Buk-myeon.
The water runoff from the two mountains flows into Jomurakgol Valley. Jomurakgyegok Valley and Domacheon Stream (from Sampal-gyo Bridge and Kookmangbong Peak) flow into Gapyeongcheon Stream.
The valley's name means to watch birds sing and dance, and calls to mind the phrase 'Jomuljomul,' which means the shape of touching something with small hands.

Gapyeong Station began operations upon the opening of the Gyeongchun Line on July 25, 1939. The station was damaged during the Korean War and restored on June 12, 1957. The double-tracked Gyeongchun Line was opened on December 21, 2010. The ITX-Cheongchun Train, which includes Gapyeong Station as one of its stops, began operations on February 28, 2012 and travels along the Gyeongchun Line.
Gapyeong's name was given by King Gyeongdeok of the Unified Silla Period to describe the region's natural beauty. Gapyeong and its tourist attractions, Nami Island in particular, grew in popularity after being featured in the Korean drama "Winter Sonata (2003)."

Located on Jaraseom Island, Nine Forest Ewhawon was renewed in 2015. The garden spans over an area of 33,000 square meters with a 1,090 square meter butterfly ecology center, making it the largest butterfly park in the world. The park offers live butterflies and butterfly specimens all year long through the use of a greenhouse. Visitors can look at exhibitions and learn about butterflies and plants with detailed explanations from professional guides. Jaraseom Island also offers camping sites and hosts various festivals.
