Surfyy Beach is a 1 kilometer-long beach designated for surfing, just north of Hajodae Beach in Yangyang. It's the first of its kind in Korea and has the most trainers and approximately 1,000 surfboards while also operating Surf School. Training is available for all different levels from beginners to advanced, and for those only looking to surf, boards and wetsuits are available for rent. Surf yoga, longboard, snorkeling and other programs are also available. The beach has various zones including a bean bag zone, hammock zone, chilling zone, and sunbed zone for visitors to enjoy. There are also a pub & lounge, camping facilities and more for visitors' convenience.

Eomjine kkomakjip is renowned for its cockle salad bibimbap. The dish is served with a plentiful portion of fresh cockles, and the rice mixed with savory seasoning is excellent. Trying out the oijingeo sundae (squid sundae) is a recommendation; the dish, celebrated as Gangneung specialty, is steamed squid stuffed with vegetables and minced meat. The restaurant is an 8-minute walk from Gangneung Station.

Gangneung Museum of Art was opened in September 2006 and re-opened as a museum managed by the city of Gangneung in April 2014. Gangneung Museum of Art has nearly 530,000 m² of exhibition space across two floors, and the building also has a view of Gangneung’s city center as well. The museum hosts exhibitions that allow everyone to communicate through artworks, not just artists, and is trying to expand cultural education in the city by providing various experience programs. In addition to special exhibitions by famous Korean and international artists, there are also frequent exhibitions based on the local colors of Gangwon-do and the people of Gangneung, offering an opportunity to get a deeper understanding of Gangneung.

It is said that when Choi Mun-han, the wife of King Chungsuk of Goryeo, came to Gangneung from Songdo, he brought 8 pine trees and planted them here. There is also the world's largest Charmsori Gramophone and Audio Museum, making it a great place to enjoy the summer and music.
