Daecheong Dam is a multi-purpose dam consisting of a 72 meter-tall and 495 meter-long concrete gravity dam and rockfill dam. It is located on the Geumgang River where Daejeon and Chungcheongbuk-do meet. There are three additional support dams in the area of the main dam to help control the river's flow. The dam also serves as a power source for the nearby areas of Daejeon and Cheongju. Construction of the dam took nearly six years, started in March 1975 and completed in 1980.
The observatory, located at Palgakjeong Service Area, offers a great view of Daecheongho Lake. A variety of fascinating items are displayed in the Water Culture Center on the left bank of Daecheong Dam. A nearby grassy meadow promises a relaxing and comfortable rest, while local delicacies such as spicy fish stew using freshwater fish and marinated grilled eel are a delight to taste.

Gongsanseong Fortress is a fortification situated at the heart of Gongju, which served as the capital of the ancient Baekje kingdom (18 BCE - 660 CE) from 475 to 538. Even after Baekje's fall, subsequent dynasties such as Silla (57 BCE - 935 CE), Goryeo (918-1392), and Joseon (1392-1897) continued to use Gongju as a regional administrative center. As a result, numerous historical sites have accumulated in the area over time. From the fortress, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of Gongju’s city center and the Geumgang River.

The Guard-Changing Ceremony of Woongjinseong Fortress takes place at Gongsanseong Fortress, a part of the Baekje Historic Areas which is a desginated UNESCO's World Heritage Site. The ceremony reenacts the service of the guards defending the castle, using costumes and props based on the strict analysis of the historical records. The ceremony is held every Saturday and Sunday from April to November except during hot summer season of June to August, and conducted every day during the Baekje Culture Festival in the fall. The event includes martial art performances and various experiences as well as the main ceremony, aiming at promoting Gongju-si, where the Baekje culture flourished, and its valuable heritage Gongsanseong Fortress.

Located in Gongju, South Chungcheong Province, Hongwhikwan offers guests a traditional “hanok” experience filled with the gentle scents of red clay and wood. The hotel is located in front of the UNESCO World Heritage site Gongsanseong Fortress, with Geumgang River flowing behind the complex.

Gyeryongsan National Park stretches across the cities of Daejeon, Gongju, and Nonsan in Chungcheongnam-do and was made a national park on December 31, 1968. The name of the mountain comes from the fact that the ridgeline looks like a dragon wearing a chicken's crest on its head. The topographical features are what make this mountain stand out and its mysterious folklore is what makes it so interesting. The park features many peaks, including the main peak Cheonhwangbong (alt. 845.1 m), as well as Sambulbong, Yeoncheonbong, and Gwaneumbong Peaks. This mountain is famous for its many interesting sites, with its fantastic rock structures and Yongmunpokpo Falls on the west, Eunseonpokpo Falls to the east, and Amyongchu and Sutyongchupokpo Falls in the south.
In spring, cherry blossoms bloom along the path to Donghaksa Temple, and during summer the lush green of the valley is very beautiful. During fall, the maple trees reveal their crimson colored leaves around Gapsa Temple and Yongmunpokpo Falls. The snowcapped peak of Sambulbong in winter is simply breathtaking. Gyeryongsan is full of rare animals and plants, beautiful waterfalls and a rich history with mysterious legends and cultural treasures. To the east is Donghaksa Temple; northwest, Gapsa Temple; southwest, Sinwonsa Temple; and southeast, Yonghwasa Temple.

Gomanaru 1999 is a Korean restaurant located near Gongsanseong Fortress. Their menu features a single set meal called gomanaru bapsang (rice and side dishes), which includes a hearty spread of pot rice, boiled pork slices, grilled marinated pork shoulder, and grilled dried pollack. Gyejoksan Red Clay Trail opened in 2006 as the nation's first eco-healing barefoot walking trail. Walking along this 14.5-kilometer-long trail filled with the fresh aroma of pine needles is a great way to get healthy.
