Omija Theme Tunnel is located under Gomosanseong Fortress in Jinnamgyoban, Mungyeong. The Seokhyeon Tunnel, used to transport coal between Jeomchon and Mungyeong, was reborn as a 540-meter-long tunnel for tourism. In addition to cultural spots like the Starlight Tunnel and amazing trick arts, there are also craft shops where visitors can buy Omija, Mungyeong's specialty, and pottery. It is warm in winter and cool in summer because the average temperature is maintained at 15 to 18 degrees throughout the year.

Jinnam Maeuntang is located near Jinnamgyo Bridge, the first landmark among the Eight Scenic Views of Gyeongbuk. Its signature dish megi maeuntang (spicy catfish stew) delivers a deep and rich flavor, crafted from a blend of homemade red chili paste and broth steeped in medicinal herbs. The restaurant's terrace seating also provides spectacular views of Gomosanseong Fortress and Baekhwasan Mountain.

In Mungyeong, a former coal mining region, railroads were initially constructed for transporting coal and people. After the mines were shut down, these railroads were abandoned. However, they have since been transformed into tracks for railbikes and miniature trains. Today, visitors can enjoy the stunning landscape while traveling along the meandering railroads that cut through the valley.

Joryeongsan Mountain divides Mungyeong (Gyeongsangbuk-do) and Goesan (Chungcheongbuk-do), and is situated at the far end of Baekdudaegan Mountain Range that connects Baekdusan and Jirisan Mountains. The mountain is picturesque with its surroundings of dense forest, steep rocky areas, strangely shaped peaks and old trees. It has a grand scale of mountain ridge and high altitude. However, as the hiking trail starts at 529 meters on Ihwaryeong, it is not that tough. Nearby locations include Sinseongbong Peak and Mapaebong Peak, as well as Joryeongsan Recreational Forest.

Mungyeong Daeseungsa Temple (대승사(문경))

Situated on Sabulsan Mountain, Daeseungsa Temple is a beautiful building, rich in history. The name of the mountain on which the temple was built was originally called Gongdeoksan, but was later known as Sabulsan. The name, Sabulsan, (meaning “Four Buddhas”) comes from the legend of the Silla Period in which a large stone shrouded with red silk and etched with four faces of Buddha mysteriously descended upon the mountain. Upon hearing the news of this miraculous event, the king at the time (King Jinpyeong) immediately visited the spot and had the temple built next to the sacred stone.

The temple was partially destroyed by fire in the summer of 1922, but was restored in 1927 thanks to the efforts of Monks Uiun, Chwiwol, and Deoksan. In January 1958, the temple once again suffered fire damage, leaving only a few buildings (Geukrakjeon, Myeongbujeon, and Sansingak) untouched. Monks Daehyu, Seolwol, and Jeongam helped to restore the temple and the temple has remained well-preserved ever since.

Mireukdaewon Stone Temple Site, Historic Site No. 317, faces south in the basin of the Haneuljae Pass between Chungcheongbuk-do and Gyeongsangbuk-do. It is said that Mauitaeja, the last prince of the Silla Kingdom, had a dream one night as he was traveling to Geumgangsan Mountain where the Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva instructed him to erect a statue of Buddha. As a result, he built a temple to honor the goddess’ wish at the current site of Mireuk-ri. The temple name was discovered through excavation research in 1977 and 1978 by Cheongju University, while the temple grounds were more thoroughly investigated by a team of researchers from Ewha Woman's University in 1980.

Gaeun Open Set is a filming site located within Mungyeong Ecoworld. Through in-depth historical research, it realistically recreates the city in the old days, making it an important location for TV series and history education. There are a total of three filming locations. The first filming location has palaces, including Goguryeo Palace, thatched-roof houses, inns, and a grand gate of actual size. It is known as the filming location for various dramas such as "The King of Legend (2010)," "Ja Myung Go (2009)," "Yeon Gaesomun (2006)," and "Strongest Chil Woo (2008)." It is still popular as a filming location for many other dramas. Also located within Mungyeong Ecoworld is the Coal Museum, so many tourists visit them together. It is possible to travel from the Coal Museum to the first filming location by riding the monorail, which runs every 15 minutes.

The Mungyeong Coal Museum exhibits the history of coal and explains its important contribution to Korea's rapid industrialization. Systematic exhibition of coal and related information helps visitors understand the vital role that coal has played in shaping modern life. The museum displays coal-related relics in addition to scholarly materials.

The museum offers various exhibition halls: the Central Exhibition Hall (1F-2F), Outdoor Exhibition Hall, Mine Exhibition Hall, and Miner’s Private House Exhibition Hall. Though coal, one of Korea’s few natural resources, used to be the driving force of the Korean industry and economy, it has become less visible due to the emergence of oil and natural gas. The museum helps visitors appreciate this forgotten resource as well as the lives of miners in Mungyeong, once one of the most productive coalfields in Korea.

Joryeongsan Recreational Forest (조령산자연휴양림)

Joryeongsan Recreational Forest is located in Joryeongsan Mountain, a part of Sobaeksanmaek Mountain Range. Joryeongsan Mountain is home to groves of old pine and oak trees. Hiking trails weave throughout the forests. Amenities include accommodations, forest park, pavilion, outdoor stage, playground, and remains of a fortress. The water park is open to the public between July and August. The Baekdudaegan Ecological Education Center has educational exhibits on forest ecologies and offers woodcraft experiences.
