“The Place Seoul” is located in a small alley in Gyedong-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul. It is a guesthouse made by remodeling an 80-year-old traditional Korean house. The ondol room furnished with traditional beddings is popular not only among foreigners but also among Koreans due to its special ambience. The ceiling of the room dates back to 80 years ago. The rafter put on the roof at the time of construction of the house shows the antiqueness of the house. The toenmaru (a narrow wooden porch running along the outside of a room) that comes alive with the frequent coming and going of people adds to the ambience of the traditional Korean house, with the Sansuyu (corni) tree and vegetable garden beside the Korean-style house creating a leisurely atmosphere. Beyond being a mere place to sleep in, “The Place Seoul” aims to be a composite cultural space whose motto is “the place to fill.” A simple wedding or a small-scale performance is held in the garden during the day. The rooms can be rented for small meetings. “The Place Seoul” sponsors “WWOOF KOREA,” an NGO promoting environment-friendly agriculture as well as the right dietary life, “Slow Food Korea,” and “Slow Box.” As such, the place serves a special healthy breakfast consisting of homemade bread, handmade yogurt, and organic fruits and vegetables. In addition, the toilet paper, detergent, shampoo, etc. provided are all environment-friendly products. “The Place Seoul” is located on Gyedong-gil Road, a famous tourist attraction in Seoul. It offers easy access to Bukchon Hanok Village, which is on the other side of the Gyedong-gil alley, as well as other major tourist attractions within walking distance including Changdeokgung Palace, Gyeongbokgung Palace, Samcheong-dong, and Insa-dong. The convenient location of “The Place Seoul” makes it easy to tour downtown Seoul.

El parque fue construido en el antiguo sitio en donde se encontraba la Academia de la Fuerza Aérea de Corea, por lo que sigue utilizando el nombre “Boramae” (Halcón Peregrino), que es el ave simbólica de la academia aérea. Es un parque temático que consta de un estadio complejo, campo de bádminton, área para la escalada en roca, campo de césped, parque aéreo, estanque de agua (fuente musical), plaza infantil, área para el picnic, y otros espacios para el descanso y de comodidad. En particular, la torre simbólica perteneciente a la academia aérea, que aún sigue presente en el parque, transmiten el ideal de la “Piedad Filial”, y, los 8 aviones que se encuentran expuestos en el parque aéreo permiten sentir el ambiente de los tiempos de aquella academia. Además, en el interior del parque podrá observar otros establecimientos anexos, que llevan a cabo variedad de programas culturales y académicos, como es el caso del Centro de Entrenamiento de Adolescentes; la Sala para los Ciudadanos de Dongjak-gu, que organiza seminarios, clases académicos, y reproducción de películas; las salas de servicio de bienestar para los minusválidos y ancianos, entre un total de 10 instalaciones, disponibles para todas las edades.

Parque Tapgol (탑골공원)

También conocido como Parque Pagoda, el Parque Tapgol, localizado al lado del templo Weongaksa de la era Joseon, es el primer parque moderno construido en Seúl. El remplo Weongaksa era conocido como templo Heungboksa durante la dinastía Goryeo, pero fue renombrado cuando fue ampliado durante los inicios de la era Joseon. Sin embargo, fue destruido durante el reinado de Yeonsangun y Jungjong debido a la fuerte política de represión hacia el budismo. Más adelante, un parque occidental fue contruido a propuesta del inglés John Mcleavy Brown, pero no hay información precisa sobre la razón y la fecha. El parque contiene varios tesoros nacionales, incluidas la placa que conmemora el movimiento independentista Wongaksaji y la estatua de Byeong-hee. El parque es de gran valor histórico y un espíritu nacional al ser el punto de inicio de la Protesta de Independencia del 1° de mayo de 1919.
