Tamnaguk est l’ancien nom de l’Île de Jéju, autrefois petit pays, et le terme Ipchun signifie le premier jour du printemps. L’arrivée du printemps fut aussi le début de la saison agricole, et Tamnaguk Ipchun Gut Nori est le rituel gut (exorcisme) coutumier effectué par le peuple de Jéju pour une récolte abondante. De nos jours, cet évènement est une reconstitution authentique des nombreux rituels traditionnels gut et est aussi tenu afin de célébrer l’arrivée du printemps.

Vue d’Ensemble du Festival: Le festival a lieu pendant deux jours avec une cérémonie d’ouverture en soirée suivie du principal évènement lors du jour d’Ipchun. La cérémonie d’ouverture présente un défilé des habitants de l’île habillés en tenues traditionnelles suivis par des musiciens et leurs instruments faits de gongs et de percussions. Lors du second jour (le premier jour du printemps), le festival passer au centre-ville de Jéju, s’arrêtant ci-et-là pour accomplir les rituels. Généralement, un rituel gut exprime d’anciennes croyances et spécifiquement, l’ipchun gut a l’intention de garantir d’abondantes récoltes à la fin de la saison agricole. Les exécutants du rituel portent des tal (masque traditionnel). Une expo-photos liée au printemps ainsi qu’un concours de dessins se tiendront aussi pendant le festival. Les photos seront exposées. Vous profiterez aussi d’une promenade avec le groupe de fermiers et vous secouerez votre tête à la façon des membres de celui-ci. Pensez à venir plus tôt afin de trouver une place juste devant l’autel et ainsi ne rien manquer du spectacle.
