Jangneung (장릉) se situe à Gimpo dans la province de Gyeonggi-do et il s’agit de la tombe du Roi Wonjon (1580-1619), désigné roi à titre posthume et père du Roi Injo, et de son épouse, la Reine Inheon (1578-1626).

Le Roi Wonjong est le 5ème fils du Roi Seonjo. Il nourrit un profond respect pour ses parents ainsi qu’une forte admiration pour ses frères et soeurs. Son troisième fils fut envoyé à l’exil sur l’île de Ganghwado après une fausse accusation et finit par se suicider. Le Roi fut terriblement choqué par la tragique disparition de son fils et mourut en 1619.

Les alentours de la tombe ont été bien préservés et aménagés et les visiteurs peuvent profiter de moments de détente et de promenade dans la zone. De plus, le temple Geunjeongsa est proche de là.

Situé à mi-chemin du sommet sur le flanc Sud Ouest du mont Surisan, le temple éponyme Surisa (수리사), a été construit sous le règne du roi Jinheung de la dynastie Silla au VIème siècle. Comme on raconte qu’un membre de la famille royale avait eu une vision de Bouddha alors qu’il priait au temple, la montagne était également nommé “Bulgyeon”, ce qui signifie “voir Bouddha”. Dans un premier temps, le temple était plus grand, avec 36 bâtiments et 132 hermitages disséminés dans la montagne, mais ceux-ci ont été complètement détruits durant l’invasion de la Corée par le Japon de 1592 à 1598, et pendant la Guerre de Corée, de 1950 à 1953. Le temple actuel a été reconstruit en 1955. La route qui mène à l’entrée du temple de Surisa offre une vue magnifique de la forêt et de la vallée qui forme un écrin autour, donnant l’impression que la montagne entoure le temple comme un paravent peint.
