Jangan Myeonok is a famous Pyeongyang naengmyeon (Pyeongyang cold buckwheat noodles) restaurant that has been around for 65 years. It’s been passed down for three generations. As its name explains itself, Pyeongyang naengmyeon is a naengmyeon mainly enjoyed in Pyongyang. Dongchimi (radish water kimchi) is mixed with meat broth to make buckwheat noodles. The taste of Pyeongyang naengmyeon varies from restaurant to restaurant, but they all share in common that it’s seasoned lightly to bring out the true flavors of each ingredient. Here, buckwheat noodles are handmade at the restaurant to maximize the flavor of buckwheat.
