Located at the Uiam lakeside, the Animation Museum, which is Korea’s only animation museum, has two floors. On the first floor there is the dimensional exhibition hall introducing the origin, birth, and development of the animation, the kinds of animation, and the Korean animation history, as well as the reproductions of a large robot Taekwon V, and the old comic store. The second floor consists of the world hall displaying the animation trend for each country, diverse animation experience activities, and a special exhibition hall. Visitors can experience making sound effects for an animated film using various tools and dubbing a famous animated film such as Run Honey, and Cloud Bread. The Toy Robot Studio, located next to the Animation Museum, provides various experience programs related to robots. Its interesting robot programs are Spider Robot, Mission Robot, Robot Avatar, Robot Dance, Drone Experience, and so on. Both the Animation Museum and the Toy Robot Studio are equipped with convenient facilities for visitors with the background of Uiamho Lake, such as a cafe and souvenir shop, which sells animation characters and toys. The area of Gongjicheon Stream connected to the Bukhangang River is a shelter in the middle of Chuncheon City. This recreation area comprises various facilities along both sides of the Gongjicheon Stream, including Gongjicheon Sculpture Park, Uiam Park, Memorial Hall for Ethiopian Veterans in the Korean War, inline skating rink, outdoor stage, and fountain. Visitors can cross the water easily through the Gongjicheon Bridge and the lower pedestrian bridge. The waterside trail and the bike path are popular among citizens with the seasonal scenic view. In particular, cherry blossom attracts many visitors in spring. There is a bicycle rental stand nearby the stream. It is recommended to enjoy biking around the Gongjicheon Stream or along the Uiamho Bike Path. Another interesting ride is a pedal boat with which visitors can create a romantic memory with a splendid scenery of the Gongjicheon Stream.

Gongjicheon Sculpture Park (공지천 조각공원)

Originally named Gongji Park, the park is located near Gongjicheon Stream and has been decorated with sculptures since 1997. Twenty-nine pieces are displayed and a water clock was installed in 2001. Gongjicheon Resort is located nearby the park with an outdoor stage and fountain. Water sports such as boat-riding can be enjoyed on the lake. The lake and the fountain are great locations to spend time with family and friends. Every year diverse cultural art events such as the Spring Art Performance as well as the Soyangjae Chuncheon Poetry Recital take place in the park and Gongjicheon area. A Children’s Center and War Memorial are also located nearby.

Chuncheon Folk Flea Market, which is 5 min walk from Namchuncheon Station, is located below the Gyeongchun Line railway bridge connecting Namchuncheon Station with Chuncheon Station. The market was originally built over the covered Yaksacheon Stream, but with the ecosystem restoration project of the Yaksacheon Stream, the market was relocated to the current position at the end of 2010. It covers a distance of about 700 m and is packed with some 140 stores. It also holds its fifth-day market (opened every five days on dates of the month whose last digit is the 2nd or 7th). On the opening days of the fifth-day market, it is filled with various kinds of street stalls selling farming products, fresh fish and seafood, snacks, and miscellaneous goods. Visitors can also try diverse dishes, including Gangwon-do’s local dishes such as buckwheat pancake, buckwheat crepes, and red chili paste pancake, and other dishes such as spicy stir-fried chicken, raw meat dish, and noodle soup. The nighttime market opens Friday to Sunday from spring to autumn.
