Surfyy Beach is a 1 kilometer-long surf designated beach, just north of Hajodae Beach in Yangyang. It's the first of its kind in Korea and has the most trainers and approximately 1,000 surfboards while also operating Surf School. Training is available for all different levels from beginners to advanced, and for those only looking to surf, board and wetsuits are available for rent. Surf yoga, longboard, snorkeling and other programs are also available. The beach has various zones including bean bag zone, hammock zone, chilling zone, and sunbed zone for visitors to enjoy. There are also pub & lounge, camping facilities and more for visitors convenience.

Hajodae Beach is located in Yangyang-gun famous for the beautiful scenery of the deep blue ocean, soft sandy shore, a nearby lighthouse, and unique rock formations and stony islets. The beach is roughly 1.5 kilometers, at an average x_width of 100 meters, and a coastal incline of 1.5 meters. Gwangjeongcheon and Sanguncheon Streams run into the ocean near the beach, creating slightly warmer waters than other areas along the eastern coast. During the summer season, visitors can pay to pitch a tent on the beach or in the pine forest campground. The beach is open for swimming between July and August, and is the venue for many festivals and events throughout the year. The rocky coastline along Hyeonbuk-myeon in Yangyang called Hajodae is one of the Eight Sights of Yangyang. The coastline boasts unique rock formations and rocky islets, creating a unique scenery along with the nearby pine forest. The name Hajodae originated from the surnames of Ha Ryun and Jo Jun, two late Goryeo-era officials who plotted to overthrow the dynasty and would eventually become one of the founding officials of Joseon. A pavilion, also named Hajodae Pavilion, can be found on top of the coastal cliff. Today’s pavilion is a restoration dating back to 1998, while the original was raised during the reign of King Jeongjong of the Joseon dynasty and underwent numerous renovations. The pavilion is a favorite scenic point for many visitors. An old pine tree standing upright on the rocky cliff was made famous for its appearance on the broadcasted screen for the national anthem of Korea. Following the decked walkways from the pavilion brings one to the white unmanned lighthouse, or the nearby Hajodae Trail and Observatory. Hajodae Beach can be found about 1 kilometer to the northwest of the area. Its relatively shallow depth, reaching no more than 1.5 meters, makes it ideal for families with small children.

Hajodae Unmanned Lighthouse (하조대 무인등대)

The Hajodae Unmanned Lighthouse sits along a cliff with an old pine tree and overlooks the East Sea. Legend has it the name Hajodae came from the first sounds of Haryun and Jojun, two of the founding members of the Joseon dynasty who stayed nearby during one of their journeys.

The area is famous as a filming spot for the drama "Taejo Wang Geon (2000)." A walk along the cliff will lead to a white lighthouse near the bridge beside Hajodae Cliff. A number of tourists also visit Hajodae for the beautiful sunrises and the beam of light from the lighthouse that appears when darkness falls.

Its extensive menu boasts a variety of dishes, ranging from saengseongui (grilled fish), twigim (deep-fried dish), chobap (sushi), salad, shrimp, sea pineapple, egg cockles, kimchijeon (kimchi pancake) to gamjajeon (potato pancake), accompanied by approximately 20 delectable and plentiful side dishes. Following the main course of hoe (sliced raw fish), they also provide a maeuntang (spicy fish stew). This relatively small beach is located in Yangyang-gun, Gangwon-do. It is 500 meters in length and 55 meters in x_width, and has an average depth of 1.2 meters. The beach is particularly known for its soft and fine sand, often considered to be the best on the east coast. Despite its excellent scenery and clear water, the beach is relatively obscure and peaceful. It is only open during the daytime between July and August. The pine trees surrounding the beach are protected areas, and visitors are prohibited from entering. Surfing is another draw of the beach, and the surf shop offers lessons and equipment rentals. Scuba diving is also available on site. An interesting insight into the folk tradition is “anchovy flinging,” a traditional method of catching anchovies that involve about 70 people working together to pull a big net from the sea to land. This experience is offered free of charge during the opening of the beach, and requires payment for periods outside the vacation season. Prior reservation is required through the official website. The beach enjoys excellent access from Yangyang International Airport and a 20-min ride from Yangyang city center. Dongho-ri Beach Campground, Seoraksan Mountain, and Osaek District can be found nearby.
