Wanju Hwaamsa Temple (화암사(완주))

The temple was founded by National Preceptor Ilgyo in the 3rd year of King Hyoso of Silla (694), and it is said that Seolchong once studied here. Geuknakjeon Hall was built in 1425 with the benefactor of Seong Dal-saeng. Uhwaru is also designated as a treasure as a building that shows the characteristics of ancient architecture. The bronze bell made during the reign of King Gwanghaegun was cast by Hoyeong, and it is called the alarm clock because it made a sound when something unfortunate happened to the temple or the country to inform of the emergency. Hwaamsa Temple is surrounded by the primeval forest of Myeongsan Mountain like a folding screen and has a valley with clear water flowing.

Samaksan Mountain Lake Cable Car is the longest cable car in Korea, which connects Samcheon-dong and Samaksan Mountain across Uiamho Lake. The 20 Crystal Cabins among the 66 total cabins offer the best choice to enjoy the beautiful Uiamho Lake and Samaksan Mountain. Samaksan Lake Cable Car Building, which resembles a bow and boomerang, has a variety of amenities. There are restaurants, convenience stores, cafés, and souvenir shops at Uiamho Lake Stop (lower platform). This park was created in 2003 to commemorate the February 28 Student Democratic Uprising in 1960 on the site of Jungang Elementary School. UN Sculpture Park is located next to the UN Memorial Cemetery where the souls of UN soldiers who served in the Korean War rest in peace. The sculpture park exhibits 34 pieces of artworks created and donated by sculptors from 21 nations who provided support in the Korean War. These sculptures were created as a part of UN Memorial Park International Sculpture Symposium (September 15-30, 2000) that commemorated the 50th anniversary of the outbreak of the Korean War in honor of those who fought in the war. The UN Sculpture Park had its opening ceremony on October 24, 2001.
