Gongjicheon Sculpture Park (공지천 조각공원)

Originally named Gongji Park, the park is located near Gongjicheon Stream and has been decorated with sculptures since 1997. Twenty-nine pieces are displayed and a water clock was installed in 2001. Gongjicheon Resort is located nearby the park with an outdoor stage and fountain. Water sports such as boat-riding can be enjoyed on the lake. The lake and the fountain are great locations to spend time with family and friends. Every year diverse cultural art events such as the Spring Art Performance as well as the Soyangjae Chuncheon Poetry Recital take place in the park and Gongjicheon area. A Children’s Center and War Memorial are also located nearby.

Chuncheon Myeongmul Dakgalbi (춘천명물닭갈비)

Chuncheon Myeongmul Dakgalbi, a specialty restaurant renowned for dakgalbi (spicy stir-fried chicken), is situated near the scenic Bukhangang River and Uiamho Lake. Chuncheon is celebrated as the city of dakgalbi. Their signature dish features spicy seasoned chicken stir-fried with vegetables, tteok (rice cake), and sweet potatoes on an iron plate, offering an exquisite flavor. Notable nearby attractions include the Samaksan Cable Car and the MBC Broadcasting Station.

Chuncheon Puppet Theater & Puppet Museum (춘천인형극장&인형극박물관)

Chuncheon Puppet Theater, which is Korea’s first puppet theater, and Chuncheon Puppet Museum, which exhibits various materials about puppet shows, are located side by side on the Uiamho lakeside. As the Puppet Festival Chuncheon gained its popularity since its first opening in 1989, Chuncheon Puppet Theater and Chuncheon Puppet Museum were also opened in 2001 and 2004, respectively. At present, Chuncheon Puppet Theater is the main stage of the Puppet Festival Chuncheon, which is held every year, and provides a puppet show aside from the festival period. The museum displays various types of puppets from Korea and other countries, including Korea’s puppets from kkokdugaksi nori (Korean puppet play), France’s Guignols, and China’s shadow puppets. It also offers experience programs related to the exhibition. Besides a cafe with a great view by the museum, there are a playground, a waterside bike path, and a trail nearby, as well as Gangwon Provincial Arboretum, which is about 500 m away.

King Canoe Quay (킹카누 나루터)

King Canoe Quay is the only place in Korea to experience Canadian canoes. They also created the first 12-seater Canadian canoe. It's an eco-friendly sport that produces neither noise nor the smell of oil. Canoes on tranquil lakes provide an opportunity to see another world from the earth because one is closer to the horizon. Take a wooden canoe along the Bukhangang River with the sound of water and enjoy the charm of the lake city Chuncheon. There are four major courses provided by King Canoe Quay: Uiam Dam, Bungeoseom Island, Hajungdo Island, and Uiamho Lake. The guide will also tell riders interesting stories related to Uiamho Lake on the canoe.

Statue of Soyanggang Maid (소양강처녀상)

This Soyanggang Maiden Statue stands high between Soyanggang Skywalk and Soyang i(2)gyo Bridge. This statue, representing Korea’s popular song Soyanggang Cheonyeo (maiden), is 12 m high in total, combining 5 m-high base stone and 7 m-high body. If you see it close to, the statue looks very big. The statue depicts a maiden who holds her skirt hem with one hand and reed with the other, and her breast-knot flapping in the wind. The base stone has the inscription of lyrics. The lyrics belong to the song Soyanggang Cheonyeo composed by Ban Ya-wol, who left hit songs, such as Crossing the Teary Pass of Bakdaljae, and Brokenhearted Miari Ridge.

Soyanggang Skywalk (소양강스카이워크)

The Soyanggang Skywalk, extending over the river, spans 174 meters in length, with a transparent glass floor covering 156 meters of its section. At the end of the skywalk, visitors will find a circular plaza and an observatory, renowned for their panoramic views, especially of the sunsets. Additionally, the Ssogarisang sculpture, depicting a leopard mandarin fish, stands on the opposite side of the plaza, drawing in visitors. Water from a fountain flows from this sculpture at fixed intervals, adding to the allure.

Chuncheon Mime Festival (춘천마임축제)

The Chuncheon International Mime Festival is recognized as one of the world’s top three mime festivals, alongside France’s Mimos Mime Festival and the London International Mime Festival in the UK. The festival kicks off with “City of Water: Ah! Surajang,” transforming the city center into a massive water park. The highlight of the festival is the fire performance “City of Fire: Dokkaebi Nanjang,” which lights up the dark night. During the festival, various performances based on “body, movement, and image” are held throughout Chuncheon. Gangwon-do Forestry Museum (강원도 산림박물관)
