Yeosu Industrial Complex, established in 1967, is the largest petrochemical industrial complex in Korea. It holds significant historical importance as a space that has driven the economic development of Korea. With thousands of lights installed in massive machinery and facilities, it forms a dazzling night view, making it a popular tourist attraction. There are observatory and pedestrian deck where visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the industrial complex's magnificent lights, making it an excellent spot for tourism.

Heungguksa Temple (Yeosu) (흥국사 (여수))

The name of Heungguksa Temple means “if the country prospers, the temple does well.” The temple was established to pray for the country to flourish. Located on Yeongchwisan Mountain, Heunaguksa was founded by Bojo Guksa in 1195.

Within the compound are other buildings including Wontongjeon, Palsangjeon and Daeungjeon (Main Hall). The temple’s main hall, a Treasure, is open in its structure and equipped with traditional Korean doors. A Buddhist painting named Hubultaenghwa is designated as a Treasure. At the entrance to the temple is a rainbow-shaped stone bridge called Honggyo Bridge,a Treasure, which is widely known as a distinguished work of art.

On Yeongchwisan Mountain, azaleas begin to bloom in early April and completely take over the mountain by the end of the month. Azalea blossoms create an extravagant view along the ridgeline of Yeongchwibong Peak (439 meters above sea level) and Jillyebong Peak (510 meters above sea level). During this period, the Mount Yeongchwisan Azalea Festival takes place.

Rostia is a dining café overlooking the sea in front of Dolsan, Yeosu. Popular menu items include the Dolsan gat suje burger (Dolsan leaf mustard fresh burger), made with the specialty of Yeosu, and the Truffles myeongnan gat pasta (Truffles pollack roe pasta with leaf mustard). As a large café, it offers beanbags and swings for guests to relax after their meal. The changing scenery of the sea, depending on the tides, adds to its charm.

Dolsando is the seventh largest island in Korea and is connected to the mainland via Dolsan Bridge. Ever since construction was completed on December 15, 1984, the 450 meter-long, 11.7 meter-wide bridge has become a popular tourist attraction.

There is plenty to see on Dolsando Island including numerous scenic spots and historic sites such as Dolsan Park, Musulmok Battlefield, Jeollanam-do Fisheries Exhibition Hall, Bangjukpo Beach, Hyangiram Hermitage, and Eunjeogam Hermitage. Located beneath Dolsan Bridge is a life-sized model of a Geobukseon (Turtle Ship), which played an important role in the Korean Navy’s victories during the Imjinwaeran War (1592-1598). Visitors will also find plenty of seafood restaurants lining the paved coastal road.

Yeongchwisan Mountain is not very tall, rising just 510 meters above sea level, but the mountain has long been deemed as a spiritual guardian of the Yeosu peninsula. During the old days, people held rituals for rain or offered wishful prayers here. Geumseongdae and Dosolam Hermitage are two Buddhist places of worship on the mountain.

As Yeongchwisan Mountain is not very tall, taking any hiking course will lead hikers to the peak within about four hours. The mountain is a perfect place for family travelers to go hiking. Yeongchwisan Mountain is also widely known as the first place in Korea where azaleas begin to bloom in the spring, and is one of the top three most famous places in Korea for azalea blossoms. In April each year, the azalea festival is held in the mountain. The festival offers a variety of programs including a ritual for the god of the mountain, a writing contest for students, a photo contest, and Miss Azalea beauty pageant. During the festival, visitors can enjoy various events and local foods.

Dolsando Island located in Yeosu-si, Jeollanam-do, is famous for its beautiful camellia flowers. Hyangiram Hermitage lies at the eastern tip of the island where you can see the beautiful sunrise. Museulmokhaebyeon Beach is not only a site of great victory achieved by Admiral Yi Sun-sin but also a tranquil beach with a beautiful seaside pine forest, which makes it ideal as a place to take a leisurely walk in. This pebble beach is also a part of the Namdo Seaside Trail and Yeosu Gaetga-gil Trail Course 2. When the tides recede, a white sand beach is revealed, showing a different side to this magical beach. Museulmokhaebyeon Beach is a beloved sunrise spot that draws a large crowd on the first day of the year, while photographers flock to the beach throughout the four seasons to capture the beautiful view. You can see the sculptures inspired by Yeosu seas within the pine forest, walk leisurely along the horizon, and enjoy the scenery of the wide sea dotted by islands. One can also find the Jeollanam-do Maritime & Fisheries Science Museum at the entrance to the beach, so there’s plenty of things to do in the surrounding areas as well.

Located in Sinpung-ri, Yulchon-myeon, Yeosu-si, Jeollanam-do, Aeyangwon Church (Reverend Son Yangwon Martyr Memorial Hall) commemorates Reverend Son Yangwon. He began his religious activities and relief efforts at a group home for patients suffering from Hansen's Disease located in Aeyangwon Church, but he was later detained at Yeosu Police Office because he refused to honor Japanese Shinto shrines in 1940.

The Memorial Hall's construction was completed on March 27, 1994 in order to commemorate Son Yangwon, who was shot and killed by the North Korean army during the Korean War.

The exhibition hall on the first floor displays photos of Son, photos related to Christianity, keepsakes and calligraphy artwork, and the exhibition hall on the second hall displays his prison writings and old books.

Barae-gil Road gets its name from the belief of Namhae families that the ocean provides us with everything we need. The road was designed to provide means of exercise, as well as provide life experiences through participating in activities along the way, such as farming and fishing. The Daraengi Jiget-gil Trail section stretches along the coast from Pyeongsanhang Port, past Sachon Beach to Daraengi Village. The trail affords views of the incredible natural scenery from the ocean waves pounding onto the pebble beaches to the terraced fields of rice. The trail spans 16 kilometers and takes around five hours to complete.
