Explanation

Gwanghwamun Plaza was opened to the public in August 2022 after renovation. Sejong-ro, the main street of Seoul with 600 years of history, has been reborn as a space for historical and cultural experiences by restoring Yukjo Street. Woldae (Elevated Ceremonial Stage) was reconstructed at the entrance of the "Plaza that Recovers the History of Gwanghwamun," and the statue of Haetae, an imaginary animal that judges good and evil, has been restored. In addition, traces of Yukjo Street, the main street of Hanyang in the past, were restored in the ‘Plaza that recreates the scenery of Yukjo Street’ near Sejong-ro Park, with a scale model installed. This is an excellent place for a stroll with beautiful scenery, including Gyeongbokgung Palace and Bugaksan Mountain.

Located on Taehwasan Mountain at the head temple of the 6th District of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism, this trail is a dedicated "forest bathing" destination within the historic, millennium-old Magoksa Temple grounds. As the mountain is primarily comprised of Korean Red Pines, the trail serves as a wellness course where visitors can fully enjoy the therapeutic benefits of a red pine forest, which is widely considered the finest environment for forest bathing. The hiking route spans 5 kilometers along the ridges of Taehwasan Mountain, weaving through stands of 5- to 10-year-old red pines that surround the temple. The total trekking time is approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes. Starting from the entrance of Eunjeogam Hermitage in front of the main Daeungjeon Hall, the trail loops around the temple grounds, passing through Hwalinbong Peak (423 m) and Nabalbong Peak (417 m). With its gentle slopes, the course is well-suited for all ages, including children and the elderly.

Yokjido Island is a place where one can come and relax comfortably throughout the year. It floats in the southern sea, and the main island of Yokjido, along with the smaller islands of Dumido, Nodaedo, and Yeonhwado, are lined up in a straight line on the route between Busan and Jeju. Yokji sweet potatoes are a local specialty, and the circular road is known as a training course for mountain biking and island marathons on weekends and during winter. Hiking on Yokjido Island offers stunning coastal views with wide-open seas and crashing waves. The coastal road from the pier to Yapo is the most popular route for enjoying the scenery of fishing villages. The real climb begins at the point where the paved road ends.
