Yongduam es una roca volcánica que se formó como resultado de una erupción producida hace dos millones de años aproximadamente. Tiene 10 m de altura y 30 m de longitud. Se le dio el nombre de Yongduam porque una leyenda cuenta que un dragón (“yong” en coreano) que vivía en su palacio del área intentó ascender a los cielos pero quedó atrapado y petrificado. Como la forma de la roca se semeja a la cabeza de un dragón, se la llama yong (dragón) du (cabeza) am (roca).
La roca tiene en la actualidad solo la parte correspondiente al cuerpo, porque durante una tremenda tormenta, la parte de la roca correspondiente a la cabeza fue golpeada por un rayo y se cayó. A unos 200 metros hacia el este de Yongduam, está el Yongyeon (Estanque de Dragón). Una vez más, el estanque fue llamado así porque se cree que el dragón solía jugar allí. Su agua es tan cristalina que se trasluce todo lo que hay en el fondo del estanque.
