Masan Place is located in a famous food alley near Seoul City Hall. El Museo de Historia de Seúl refleja en forma ordenada la historia y cultura de la capital de Corea. El Consulado Ruso fue construido con un estilo renacentista en 1890, por el arquitecto ruso A.J. Scredin Sabatine. En 1895, durante la dinastía Joseon, el incidente Eulmisabyeon tuvo lugar con motivo de la muestra de fuerza de los japoneses. La emperatriz Myeongseong-hwanghu ejercía el poder en la época en que Japón, China, Rusia y otras potencias se disputaban la influencia en la región. El ministro japonés Miura Goro la vio como posible amenaza y ordenó su asesinato. Después de los rumores del asesinato, el rey Gojong y el príncipe heredero se refugiaron en la embajada rusa durante un año. Después de 1945, la Unión Soviética tuvo el control de la embajada hasta quedar completamente destruida por un incendio durante la Guerra de Corea (1950-1953). Las únicas partes que permanecen del edificio original son la torre y el área del sótano. El edificio fue reconstruido a su forma actual en 1973 y es usado por los ciudadanos como parque público.
