El valle se encuentra localizado en el extremo oriental del Parque Nacional del Monte Odaesan. El paisaje natural del valle, formado por rocas con formas peculiares, ha hecho que se asemeje al famoso monte Geumgangsan, de donde proviene su nombre (Sogeumgang, so significa pequeño según los caracteres chinos). El pico principal se encuentra en el monte Hwangbyeongsan, con 1.470 m de altura sobre el nivel del mar, luego le siguen los picos Noinbong y Maebong hacia cada lado, formado la imagen de las alas de una ave. Entre el bosque abundante del valle, se presenta un paisaje natural espléndido, formado por rocas elegantes que impresionan a los viajeros que la visitan. Desde la primera cuesta del valle Mureung a lo largo del área se presentan una gran cantidad de lugares famosos y sitios históricos; como es el caso del estanque natural Sipjaso, las rocas Myeonggyeongdae y Sikdangam, las cascadas Guryong y Gunja, el valle Manmulsang, la fortaleza Geumgangsanseong (fortaleza Amisanseong), entre otros.

Cascada Guryong (Sogeumgang) (구룡폭포(소금강))

La cascada Guryong está formada por 9 saltos de agua de diferente tamaño, que en total suman una dimensión de 3 km de longitud, ubicados en el valle Sogeumgang de Cheonghak-dong. El nombre “Guryong”, significa 9 dragones (“gu” significa 9, y “ryong” dragón), por lo que en la antigüedad se creía que cada cascada estaba habitada por un dragón. En particular, el mejor espectáculo es el salto Nº 6, ya que presenta una elegancia y tranquilidad peculiar. A 2 km de distancia de la cascada se encuentra una gran roca que recibe varios nombres diferentes por su aspecto distinguido, como Roca Gigante, Roca Candelero, etc.
