El monte Hwangnyeongsan se encuentra en el corazón de la ciudad de Busan y atraviesa los distritos de Busanjin-gu, Nam-gu y Suyeong-gu. Con una altura de 427 metros, tiene la segunda mayor cumbre de la cadena montañosa Geumnyeon. Esta montaña está compuesta mayoritariamente por andesita y su cumbre es relativamente plana. Algunas partes se caracterizan por ser muy rocosas. La parte nororiental de la montaña está conectada con el monte Geumnyeonsan. Tiene en su interior algunas colinas menores, cuyas cumbres no son pronunciadas. La relativamente baja altura de este monte permite llegar a la cumbre en 2 o 3 horas.
