The market epitomizes both tradition and modernity. Here, visitors can find fish species rarely seen in capital-area markets such as snailfish (Mulmegi), rockfish (Bollak), and Spanish mackerel for sashimi—all at affordable prices. The market is divided into three main sections of live fish, dried seafood, and food items. The live fish section uses clean seawater drawn from a dedicated seawater pipeline 400 meters deep, ensuring the freshness of its offerings. The dried seafood section features products processed and sun-dried in sea breeze at an on-site facility located on the market’s rooftop. In the food item section, visitors can purchase local specialties such as Yeosu-style gat kimchi and salted seafood. The night market features a variety of fresh seafood-based street foods, attracting crowds. El Mercado Tradicional de Janghowon, ubicado cerca de la Terminal de Autobuses de Icheon, es un mercado permanente que se extiende en paralelo al mercado de cinco días. Se encuentra en su ubicación actual desde 1936 y obtiene reconocimiento nacional gracias al mercado que se abre cada cinco días, en las fechas terminadas en 4 y 9 de cada mes. Los días de mercado, las tiendas se disponen en forma de cruz a lo largo de aproximadamente 1 km alrededor de la intersección de cinco calles que se encuentra a la entrada del mercado. Se pueden adquirir productos agrícolas regionales como mijo, semillas de sésamo, frijoles, frijoles mungo, azufaifas, melocotones especiales de Janghowon, peras de Icheon, arroz de Icheon, verduras silvestres, hierbas medicinales y chiles de Eumseong. También se venden productos regionales como el nabo gegol, un nabo autóctono que solo se cultiva en Icheon, y kimchi elaborado con este nabo.
