Pungdong Anygol est une rue dédiée à la culture de la restauration, désignée par le conseil régional du Gyeonggi-do. Cette rue est située à Goyang-si, ville réputée pour la culture et les arts, baignée par le parfum de ses fleurs et les eaux de ses magnifiques lacs. Anygol a commencé à la station Baekma sur la ligne Gyeong-ui, un lieu plein de souvenirs pour ceux qui ont eu vingt ans dans les années 1970 et 1980. La plupart d’entre eux y ont attendu avec anxiété un train pour Sinshon en compagnie de leur amoureux(se). Au début des années 1990, avec la construction de la ville nouvelle de Ilsan, les bars et les cafés au alentours de Baekma ont commencé à péricliter. Mais récemment, à Pung-dong dans la ville de Goyang-si, à environ 2km de Baekma, ont surgi des cafés et petits restaurants où les clients peuvent déguster des plats variés tout en écoutant des concerts live de musique folk, dans une atmosphère qui rappelle le bon vieux temps.

Anygol est aussi appelée « Rue de Aehyeongol », du nom originel de Pung-dong, « Village de Aehyeon ». Les habitants les plus âgés affirment que le nom « Anygol » a évolué de « Aehyeongol » à « Aeingol » et finalement « Anygo », trois noms phonétiquement similaires. Alors qu’auparavant on n’y trouvait presque exclusivement que des cafés de musique folk, les 80 restaurants et cafés qui s’étendent dans le quartier et au-delà proposent à présent toutes sortes d’atmosphères. On y trouve notament des restaurants sophistiqués, des cafés galleries, et des petites gargottes vendant du riz à l’orge, du canard grillé ou du huoguo. Et dans des dîners-spectacles tels que Hawsarang, Cherbourg, Baekma café, Wa Live café et Arias, des chanteurs folk professionnels ou même les clients s’y produisent jusqu’à 2 ou 3h du matin.

“The Place Seoul” is located in a small alley in Gyedong-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul. It is a guesthouse made by remodeling an 80-year-old traditional Korean house. The ondol room furnished with traditional beddings is popular not only among foreigners but also among Koreans due to its special ambience. The ceiling of the room dates back to 80 years ago. The rafter put on the roof at the time of construction of the house shows the antiqueness of the house. The toenmaru (a narrow wooden porch running along the outside of a room) that comes alive with the frequent coming and going of people adds to the ambience of the traditional Korean house, with the Sansuyu (corni) tree and vegetable garden beside the Korean-style house creating a leisurely atmosphere. Beyond being a mere place to sleep in, “The Place Seoul” aims to be a composite cultural space whose motto is “the place to fill.” A simple wedding or a small-scale performance is held in the garden during the day. The rooms can be rented for small meetings. “The Place Seoul” sponsors “WWOOF KOREA,” an NGO promoting environment-friendly agriculture as well as the right dietary life, “Slow Food Korea,” and “Slow Box.” As such, the place serves a special healthy breakfast consisting of homemade bread, handmade yogurt, and organic fruits and vegetables. In addition, the toilet paper, detergent, shampoo, etc. provided are all environment-friendly products. “The Place Seoul” is located on Gyedong-gil Road, a famous tourist attraction in Seoul. It offers easy access to Bukchon Hanok Village, which is on the other side of the Gyedong-gil alley, as well as other major tourist attractions within walking distance including Changdeokgung Palace, Gyeongbokgung Palace, Samcheong-dong, and Insa-dong.
