La Seoul Fashion Week est la semaine où les créateurs sortent leurs travaux créatifs, représentant ainsi la saison la plus propice aux défilés de mode. Les principales fashion weeks sont la New York Fashion Week, la Milano Fashion Week, la Paris Fashion Week et la London Fashion Week. La Seoul Fashion Week, Singapore Fashion Week et Tokyo Fashion Week incarnent quant à elles les principaux évènements de mode en Asie.

Situé dans le quartier de Jung-gu à Séoul, Dongdaemun Design Plaza est le lieu servant à l'organisation de la Seoul Fashion Week. Cette dernière est un évènement majeur de commerce de mode qui a lieu deux fois par an, en mars (collection automne/Hiver) et en Octobre (collection printemps/été), organisé par la ville de Séoul et managé par la Fondation du Design de Séoul et le Conseil des créateurs de Corée

La Seoul Fashion Week espère dans le futur faire partie des semaines de la mode majeures, à l'instar des villes de New York, Paris, Londres et Milan.

Le parc historique et culturel de Dongdaemun allie les vestiges et l’architecture traditionnelle d’autrefois avec un espace culturel à la pointe du modernisme. Il inclut la citadelle de Séoul, la porte des écluses Igansumun (265 m, 8 030 m²), le hall historique de Dongdaemun (1 313 m²), le hall d’exposition permanent de Dongdaemun (4 460 m²), le hall commémoratif du stade de Dongdaemun (339 m²), le hall des manifestation (2 058 m²) et la galerie du design (400 m²). Deux spots d’éclairage pour les matches nocturnes et la vasque de la flamme olympique sont les témoins de l’ancien stade sportif de Dongdaemun. Des fouilles archéologiques de la citadelle et des sites des anciens stades de base-ball et de football ont permi d’exhumer 44 bâtiments datant de l’époque Joseon (1392 – 1910), dont le terrain d’entraînement Hadogam, ainsi qu’un millier d’objets, parmi lesquels des porcelaines et des céladons de Joseon.
