Le siège social du centre mondial de Taekwondo a établi ses bureaux à Séoul (Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu) le 30 novembre 1972 et a tenu les premiers championnats du monde de Taekwondo du 25 au 27 mai 1973. Le 28 mai, de la même année, la fédération mondiale de Taekwondo fut créée. Les bâtiments accueillent l’académie de taekwondo et les bureaux de la fédération mondiale de Taekwondo ainsi que diverses autres installations sportives comme un stade qui peut accueillir 3 000 personnes, des classes, des bureaux, une cafétéria, des douches et des vestiaires.
