Ogane Jokbal is known for its jokbal (braised pigs' feet) and bossam (kimchi cabbage wraps with pork). Jokbal (braised pigs' feet) refers to pigs’ legs braised for extended periods. The meat comes out of the braising process chewy and flavorful. Saeujeot (salted shrimp) is used as the sauce. Bossam (kimchi cabbage wraps with pork) and makguksu (buckwheat noodles) are also on the menu. Haeju Naengmyeon is a restaurant specializing in naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles). In fact, the restaurant has two menus: mullaengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles) and super-spicy bibim naengmyeon (spicy buckwheat noodles), along with accompaniments like mulmandu (boiled mandu), eggs, and the beverage coolpis. The sauce features copious amounts of garlic and goes very well with vinegar, mustard, and sugar. If you find the bibim naengmyeon (spicy buckwheat noodles) too spicy, cool down with warm broth or get some eggs on the side.
