Arboretum de l’île Seongmodo (석모도 수목원)

L’Arboretum a été inauguré sur l’île de Seongmodo profitant notamment des conditions climatiques favorables de cette île pour le développement des plantes marines et des plantes issues des zones nécessitant une protection particulière dans le cadre du réchauffement climatique. Le site s'étend le long de la vallée de la région de Seongmo-ri et bénéficie d’un environnement naturel sain et non pollué. Il s'agit d'in lieu touristique où coexistent la montagne et la mer transmettant notamment les valeurs et les bienfaits des forêts.

Site du temple Temple Ganghwa Seonwonsa (강화 선원사지)

Le site du temple Ganghwa Seonwonsa fut découvert pour la première fois en 1976, lors de fouilles menées autour de l’île Ganghwado par l’équipe de recherche académique de l’université Dongguk dédiée à l’île de Ganghwado. Le lieu fut designé comme site historique n°259 en 1977. Le temple Seonwonsa fut construit par le général Choi Wu en 1245 (32ème année du reigne du roi Gojong de la dynastie Goryeo), juste après le transfert de capitaux de Ganghwado en résistance à l’invasion mongole. Le temple fut l’un des plus grands temples de Corée avec le temple Songgwangsa. Cependant, il fut complètement détruit au début de la dynastie Joseon, laissant uniquement le site en lui-même. Les célèbres blocs de bois Palman Daejanggyeong (Tripitaka Koreana), en ce moment dans le temple Haeinsa Temple à Hapcheon, proviennent à l’origine du temple Seonwonsa. La croyance populaire veut qu’ils aient été transportés de Seonwonsa au temple Heungcheonsa pendant la dynastie Joseon, puis une nouvelle fois jusqu’au temple Haeinsa pendant le règne de Sejo. Situé sur un flanc de montagne, le centre du temple, supposé avoir été le site de construction, s’étend sur 250m du sud au nord et 170m de l’est à l’ouest.

Temple Bomunsa - Ganghwa (보문사(강화))

Le Temple Bomunsa est situé sur l’Ile de Seokmodo. On dit qu’il a été construit par la Reine Seondeok de la dynastie Silla, en 635. Quand on entre au Temple Bomunsa, la première chose qu’on y voit, c’est le vieil arbre de genévrier chinois qui fait 600 ans. Derrière cet arbre, il y a une caverne naturelle appelée Seokguramja, petite cellule bouddhiste. Seokguramja est faite d’un énorme rocher, et bien que l’entrée est petite, une fois que vous y êtes entré, l’intérieur est assez grand. Il y a aussi une grande meule à côté du temple et elle est environ deux fois plus grandes que les meules ordinaires. Elle était utilisée par les moines pour cuisiner et a été désignée comme Monument Culturel. Une autre chose qu’il faut absolument voir au Temple Bomunsa, c’est la statue du Bouddha assis et le Rocher Nunsseop. La statue du Bouddha assis qui fait 10 mètres de haut, est posée sur le Rocher Nunsseop. D’ici, la Mer de l’Ouest est très connue pour sa beauté. L’Ile de Seokmodo où le Temple Bomunsa est situé, est aussi très fameux pour sa plage de sable et elle sert souvent de jeu de fond pour les tirages de films. Les montagnes et la mer, tout comme l’île sont en harmonie parfaite et l’endroit est spécialement fameux pour son beau lever de soleil et son littoral.

Avec aux alentours le temple Bomunsa, la plage Minmeoru, le parc de l'île Seongmodo aionsi qu'une forêt récréative, les eaux thermales de l'île de Seongmodo constituent un lieu réputé pour profiter des sources d'eau chaude tout en appréciant une grande diversité de sites touristiques. Le lieu est aussi réputé pour apprécier les couchers de soleil près du littoral à l'ouest de la Corée. Ces eaux sont particulièrement réputées pour leur vertu de purification du corps et de l'esprit.

Mont Goryeosan (고려산)

Le mont Goryesan fut appelé Oryeonsan dans le passé. La légende veut qu’en 416, durant les 4 années du règne du roi Jangsu du royaume Goguryeon un moine bouddhiste nommé Cheonchukguk escalada le mont Goryeosan et y trouva l’étang Oryeonji où des lotus de 5 couleurs ont éclos. Le moine cueillit un pétale de lotus par couleur et les jeta en l’air. Il construisit par la suite 5 temples aux endroits exacts où les pétales tombèrent et les nomma en accord avec leur couleur : Temple Jeokryeonsa (lotus rouge) de nos jours appelé Jeokseoksa, temple Baengnyeonsa (lotus blanc), temple Cheongryeonsa (lotus bleu), temple Hwangryeonsa (lotus jaune), et temple Heungnyeonsa (lotus noir). Environ 130 dolmens sont disposés au pied du mont Goryeosan. Le mont Sirumisan, dans la partie nord du mont Goryeosan, est elle connue pour avoir été le lieu de naissance du général Yeongaesomun du royaume Goguryeo.
